I was out on my own at the Reef one time when a Manta Ray lept out of the water. Scared the crap out of me.

Used to be a whole school of rays living in the bay between Nories Head and Cabarita. You'd ride over thm every wave.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

This pic of a tweed back beach this morning. Out the back fatties dying into a deep gutter. The "Only" punter making it through to the shore had a SUP with one of those levitating fins whatever the fk they're called.

No good at the poofta track?

I got some fun ones at Flatrock yesterday. It's a funny feeling, coming in after a surf down there. You feel a bit relieved that there were no bities.

surfed near there at 4pm a few sunday arvies ago with a mate. got a big lecture in the carpark by some guy, and told not to go out. There was no one out, and just the two of us suiting up.

the waves were 3 foot and just crystal cylinders lining up and running. Gotta say the little pep-up talk before we paddled out did get to us. Sat there with my feet on top of the board the whole hour we were there ... and it got dark real quick which added another layer.

South boomerang. 5-6 foot and chunky. Bombora style peak take off into a throaty inside bowl to carve into. It's kinda turned to shit a bit now, only one in every three or four hold shape on the inside, the rest straighten/section out.

The banks there have a few holes in them from big storms back in 2016 I think, may even have been 2015 but it hasn't been breaking great for a while.

Just surfed it round 2 after lunch. It got slightly bigger, managed to get a couple, then the tide and wind completely trashed it.

It's got some real power for a beachbreak.

Ditto, big storm last year. Looked kinda manageable but there were 10ft sets coming through. Came in after getting smashed thinking wtf dont be doing that again. That right hand point just south of there by the campground is decieving, looks 3ft but is way powerful.

I had the 6'10 rabbidge single fin out there. Probably could've managed ok on a 6'2 but it felt great getting in a shave earlier and covering ground thru carves. Seems like the sort of wave that suits a gun when it's got size. It's a thick wave with a lot of water moving

Sandon on form again. 4-6ft and plenty of sets.

Over the years I've slowly worked out that place. Nowhere near some of the dedicated locals but enough so that waves which used to terrify me a while back seem fine today. It's a nice feeling to have!

Once it gets upwards of 6ft the terror returns
