post pics bitch.
Steve, It's not a 'genuine' Campbell Bros. Russ Short Bonzer, but it's a near equivalent perhaps. G&S 6'6 x 20 3/8 x 2 5/8 shaped by Nigel Perrow. Took it out this evening in the waist to chest high slop on offer, as I couldn't bare not trying it out.
Amongst it, there were a few bowly walling little ones, running for 20+ metres where the board ''Lit Up'. Very fast and drivey. Loose in a 'good way' (i.e.: Nothing skatey about it at all!). It was free-flowing but at the same time, centred, directional and predictable. Sort of a ripping tearing feel, with super hold.
Hard to make a proper call on it yet in one foot junk. But at least for now it's feeling like it's going to do what I need. And I'm hanging to get the thing in some size and juice to see what it's made of.
Here's some clearer pics...

I reckon it's pretty sick too ! I think I'm done with surfing hi-perf potato-chip shortboards. Can't see myself ever going back to them. I'm happy to trade the split-second whip/whack of a hi-perf shorty, for boards that retain consistent drive and speed from start to finish.

No actually. I'm surfing better than ever. Fitter than ever. 81kgs, becoming increasingly lean, gave up alcohol, eat nutrient dense high protein healthy low GI/carb foods every day.
But most important of all Tom Tom - I surf better than u ever have, or ever will, and..........
*drumroll*
I do it standing
So begone, and let the grown ups carry on thank u

Oh OK I see what you're riding. I wasn't paying enough attention & figured it was a lot longer than 6'6". Not a minimal.

Heading down to surfiest for a per…to check the waves, but it's close to flat I think.
Edit couple of hours later; not often you see the ocean this flat.

Amazing evening session today. I must have quadrupled my previous wave count at my regular, and mostly on my backhand. Small but mostly uncontested waves. Good fun session and I only pulled the plug because I was absolutely knackered. Swapped boards with my mate for 20 mins as he wanted to try my 6'6". Which meant that I was on his 5'11", which used to be mine for all of 3 weeks. Needless to say it wasn't fun on the shorter board ...

^ you're surfing 100% better on that miller 6'6. the more waves u catch = the more you learn = the better you get = for now, stick with the board you're going to catch more waves on.
if i were you i'd only ditch that board for something else after you've totally outgrown it (i.e.: can deftly navigate the line up and waves, catching most waves you paddle for (well positioned), and can draw a nice smooth line from start to finish, and link a series of unbroken turns together, with flow, consistent speed, and style etc), and you're really ready to take things to the next level, and you feel the board is now hindering you for some reason.
don't listen to any of those trendy little turds in surf shops (who know nothing of your ability) trying to push you into buying anything shorter.

highlight of the past two days were the morning sessions in chest-to-shoulder-high at the south-end reef on the 6'6 bonzer. i deliberately ignored the sets as they broke too wide and fat, and instead opted for the smaller ones as they were more frequent and lined up hard against the reef and bowled a lot better. man that board lights up on a fast bowly wall. so much fkn drive. slices thru top-turns, and cuts back beautifully. such an easy board to surf too. totally stoked with it !

The board's not the limiting factor by a far margin for now so I'll be sticking to it. And I have seen pics of a certain Brazillian ripping on a Thai pop out mini mal in almost double overhead Indo. Though he could probably make any board look good.

But, but ... the guy in the surf shop said I shouldn't buy anything larger than 6' if I wanted to progress ...
