Re: Where did you surf today ?
It'd be somewhere around 12 degrees. After you throw in the wind chill of a 20 knot howling offshore, blowing small snow-like hail from the mountains into the lineup, and it feels sub 10 degrees.
I went around the corner which is straight southerly current flow -- same stretch of ocean as shipsterns -- and it felt at least 2-3 degrees colder than my SE coast haunt.
Yesterday was properly cold. First surf I've had where you wonder what the fcuk it is you're trying to achieve.
Couldn't feel my hands after, and my muscles didn't want to work properly. I dropped my surfboard in the carpark because my arms stopped working. I couldn't get my booties off. I just lost all of my hand, finger and arm strength ... so I drove home in them and took them off in a hot shower once everything started working again.
Every where I looked, it was hazy. Like I was looking through a field of smoke.
I'm not sure what was happening to my body. And I'm not completely sure I didn't enjoy it.

Yes aaronn, it's brown seaweedaaronn wrote:detached Phaeophyceae
Surfed same place without a leggie for that reason a couple of months ago. Few swims thoughalakaboo wrote:Blacks Beach used to get like that sometimes vic, clogged with kelp. Guys would ride without a leash and with sharpened fins.
Lineup got a lot more organised on those days.
This year has been the worst I can remember. Likely due to flooding events that has loaded nutrients into the system = more algae + big swells = more detached

Happy International Surfing Day. Great to hear non surfing radio announcers make cringeworthy commentary.
Its like this non surfing dramatic style friend of mine who loves to talk about "the quest for the perfect wave."
Always makes it sound like a white rhino or the secret burial grounds of the elephants or King Solomen's Mines or something.

Had a couple of late ones yesterday but my eyesight is stuffed when it hits twilight. Can never judge were the wave is about to break until its on top of me. Definitely hit it again this arvo when theres some water on the banks.

Awesome! Packed to the Rafters is going to have some surf sequences and general beach frivolity.reginald wrote:Surfed this really fun little peak at greenhills yesterday. It was even better when the lifeguards cleared the crowd so we could commence filming some scenes for a TV show.
I've been telling my wife that's exactly what that show needs.

Maybe do a cross over with Blue Water High to get added realism

Well hulkster, I am just thrilled to hear somebody on this forum admit to surfing like shit.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Southern Sunny Coast.
Thought the banks would be stuffed, but the sand hasn't gone far offshore and it was peak city.
Shared a peak with little bro, surfed ourselves to a standstill.

South of Stanwell and north of Sandon for about 7 hours in total this weekend... buggered.. Stopped due to getting pins and needles through my elbow, and my calfs locking up to the point that my foot was still 90 degrees 15 mins later..
If it feels good, do it.

You're just being coy about being an extra on Reg's Puberty Blues shoot Iggs.

I wish I could have joined the 200 plus surfers at Maroubra this morning, but I just couldn't.

Down the coast over the weekend. 2 days of offshore winds, blue skies and E/N/E a-frame beach break peaks. One of those swells that just do the right thing.

Is that water as dirty as it looks in the photo Salts?
I want Nightclub Dwight dead in his grave I want the nice-nice up in blazes
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Mr Shearer - you were saying that after those big swells tearing the guts out of the banks your way that things might be grim. A mate said he's been surfing v close to your neck o the woods and its been pretty nice. But then here's my an old cnut like me and the cut and thrust of the point aint necessarily his cup of tea!
