Re: Where did you surf today ?
I found the water cold this week too ... I reckon due to the north in the swell like when the north swells roll in around Christmas and the temp plummets ...guard wrote:Boy has the water cooled down!
I'm off to a warmer climate for a couple off weeks tomorrow with a few cakes of tropical wax, reef booties and a 6'6" designed for fast reef breaks ... so I suppose I'll get a break from cold water headaches ...

I wish ...guard wrote:Maldives?
this time, only 3.5 hours as the plane flies ... a few famous lefts ... very friendly locals who drink murky water from a coconut cup ... can't complain obviously but to go to the Maldives would be heaven ...

staying mainland south (not my choice), and have boats organised already for the 35 minute run out each morning, it's amazing what you can do on the interweb and email these days ...
according to the forecasts I've seen it's supposed to be garnoff next week ... I hope they are accurate ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
did similar 12 months ago, was great fun...dunno if you been a few times before but a visit to a village up in the hills was all-time, definitely worth doin, go when the schol-kids are there, take a few footy jerseys or tee's and they love you... the net is good for trip planning, thats for sure, we did the same and that 35 min doesnt seem so long when you are OS and filled with anticipation and hope for some reef pits...changeover day is also a must space ghost....

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Scored some really fun 2ft+ wave with the very odd freak set close to 3ft this morning at my favourite SC beachie. Crowds were fine until a bunch of loud mouthed hungover YC's rocked up and spoiled the beautiful morning that it was.
I swear she was breaking like Straddie on some of the bomb sets this morning, so peaky and yet still some power behind them.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Had a great surf at the north end of a beach on Sydney's Northern Beaches that will remain classified for my own selfishness. This was on wed afternoon an hour or so before dark.
Breaking close to shore and nice and heavy, I got some great little hollow waves. Not many people out where I was either
Fun size at 3-4ft, but still powerful due to breaking in close and shallow. More of that would be nice before summers NE'ers come in

Right hand reef break just north of metro area.
Despite what both Swellnet and Coastalwatch were saying the swell was both bigger and the conditions lumpier and bumper than suggested. Normal reef not handling it all so surfed this spot just up the road.
Underwhelmingly crappy TBH, a bit of punch in the swell amongst all the lump. I imagine if the wind cooperates then tomorrow morning could be very nice indeed.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Actually surfed 300m south of here. The rights were shutting down a bit and there were long gaps waiting for the lefts, and I knew it'd get worse with the tide turning.
Still looked fun on the sets with no-one out.

Small, fun waves at my local point.
Best on the high tide early, with an occasional larger set - maybe the taste of things to come?
Is it crap in Sydney again today?

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Those who have the time will be waiting for the ne swell to arrive, but not sure it will be here for long.
