Re: Where did you surf today ?
Yesterday was pumping around MR but so was the wind, offshore but way too strong, same again today, supposed to ease a bit later.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
The last two days. Have been a couple of my best surf's for a while.
5 surfs in last 6 days.
But the last two had more consistent good rides than I can remember for ages.
Yesterday a bit big for me at my local and crowded to buggery.
So I lucked into that "secret" left nearby with head high, steep take offs and longer walls than usual for that spot.
Then today, back at my local.
Must be surf everywhere because even at the end of a two hour session, there were still only a dozen or so spread out.
Every wave ran through to the beach without its usual flat section mid way.
Had to laugh.
There's a big Maori guy surf's there regularly. He's a member of the Mal club.
He's a chippie and I know he lives at North Lakes on the outskirts of Brisbane.
Said he came up for a quick session before work.
Asked him where he works and he said South Brisbane.
Anyone who knows SE Qld will understand what I'm saying here.
North Lakes to Caloundra. An hour's surf then join the traffic all the way down the Bruce Highway and across Brisbane to the South Bank area.
Think he might have been late.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
There was a baby bull shark playing in the waves yesterday.
Maybe 2ft long.
A few of us saw it.
We weren't sure what it was but I've just had a look at some pics of bull shark pups and I reckon that's what it was.
Wonder where Mum was?

….this was pushing off the wall not diving in.
...running out of breath underwater hasn’t been an issue. Not too bad for a 62 y/o who surfs irregularly.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
I achieved big things! Headies 6am, 3 to 4ft, beautiful conditions. By 10am that big left bommie that sounds like Commo's was double to triple overhead and pumping. Went out on my crap 7'2 90's gun with way too much rocker etc, but man, scored a few real big drops and nice big open walls. Surfed until 12pm, when the wind hit. I then snarfed down a pie and coke in full Grom Mode as I drove to t'Point, which was 4-5ft and firing, hitting the shelf hard. My arms were jelly as i took out the AB and raced a few sections. Last wave was a cracker!Nick Carroll wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 8:26 amwell here she comes, rising from the east, not big yet but thicker and grindier.
I'm expecting big things from you Sydney-adjacent gaybos today
now, absolutely fcuked.
Awesome swell.

Took the foamie out and snapped it. Junior ripped a fin out on his quad. A bit of swell around.

I'm cooked.
the whole summer of surf has caught up to me.
sat out overhead uncrowded point surf this arvo. Too cooked to consider it.
I'm so happy this week will be small.
time for ding repairs and a rest.

Pretty unusual to seea baby bull shark in the ocean. Their biochemistry allows them to swim up rivers - thats where they go to breed. It gives their babies asafe haven from their main predator, other sharks. They live upstream till they're big enough to survive in the ocean.
Maybe rain flushed this one down a river?

There was a fairy penguin out in the surf at Bondi this arvo. Haven't seen one in a while.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
There was a bluebottle in the surf today. He looked like a nice one though so I shooed him away. Speaking of shoes. I just bought a new pair of Stan Smiths. Speaking of Smiths. There was good surfer called Col Smith. Actually there were two Col Smiths. One was better than the other. I wonder what happened to them..

Saw a penguin, at the beach north of Tama,
Was the first one, I’d seen for a while
There’s good whisky, at Aldi in the junction
I like to drink it, with a beer and a wine

Ah, how jaded you are Jimbo. Beneath your level to find such stuff of interest. May as well be a bluebottle you say. You have things of portent to share....go for it.
