Re: Where did you surf today ?
it really is. Just beginning to kick now from a more east angle with the SE still present but smaller. I think it will get bigger again from that east angle.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Serious question Nick - with all you've done, surfed and achieved would you really charge deadman's at (almost) 61? I appreciate the insane adrenaline rush, but fcuk some of those wipeouts look hideous. Surely that detracts from it? Or is that just part of the thrill? Even in my young days I had real limits on size, and never enjoyed being scared shitless on the water so what would I know

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I dunno, it's probably not that great an idea, but something about that wave looks kinda familiar, like I can see a line in it.
I'm pretty confident in the water, I don't want to get hurt, if I look at a situation and think there's a good chance of being hurt then I won't do it, I didn't charge in on Weds for instance because I felt like the board was wrong and there was an excellent chance of me being hurt by it. But yeah I can see a line in that spot, I can see a way in and out.
It's not my spot though so I'd have to go down there a bit and get familiar with the place, that might take some time and how much time do I have? That's the thing I tend to bump up against now. An injury might take six or eight months out of my surfing life, and that's a valuable six or eight months to me.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
fucken hell it jumped 4-6' in 25 minutes, it's HUGE
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Must have peaked last night. Still big but nowhere near the size around 4 yesterday arvo.
Surfed a reef I've never seen before this morning. It was really scary, close to getting dry docked on some rocks when I got swept north on the paddle out. Just avoided those, dodged some sets. Caught a few and came in. Pretty much above my pay grade.

Climbed a little bit last night up here.
Odd stuff though. Well overhead on the sets and holding that size for at least 50 metres.
Buy the nearby reef is hardly breaking.
And much smaller up the beaches and at Alex.
Great star viewing before dawn.
Crescent moon with refracted light all around the dark part of the disk.
Added to the Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Venus of the other day, is Mercury, dull and low on the horizon just before dawn.
And a meteor which left a trail hanging behind it for at least 20 seconds. Looked like a trail of bioluminescence you'd see in the ocean. Never seen that happen before.
Fun waves. Not overly crowded, but busy.
Oh. And some bright spark decided Moffs would be a great place to start a ski paddle race to Mooloolaba. Not lifesavers. Must be some sort of paddling club.
300 starters.
Where the fcuk did they think they were all going to park.

You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Ulu's from Made Benthil's place on the cliffs where I often hang out. My mate Chris is hanging off the railing watching about 10s from the end.

Such good beachies today, everywhere
It feels like a strange step down from the week, you don't get that step down feeling much in Sydney. I surfed the 6’5” ten channel and it went fucking nuts.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Left at Bondi looked pretty good. Pity about the 100 odd guys onto it. Two miserable close outs and one pratfall later I gave up.
Watched for a while when I got out and I found it hard to believe how many people were kooking it out on the good ones.

Best day of the swell for me.
Light winds, no crowds and backed off just enough for all the open stretches.
Gonna hit it again, hopefully it LAGOs
