To quash a complete bullshite internet rumour..........the development of the Tweed River Entrance Sand Bypass Project (TRESBP) had nothing to do with any famous surfers.
There was an advisory comittee formed, which consisted of well known local surfers including Rabbit, Wayne Deane, Bruce Lee and Peter Turner.
Their statements are a matter of public record.
I'd suggest you do some research before spinning shitt on the Net.
They'll all be there tomorrow.

Steve, I assume you'll be there.
I can't make it but will be there in spirit.
Say hello to Peter Turner for me.

I always thought Peter Turner was the mayor when they did the deal.
There was a time when the left was better than the right....for a season but that was when the right wasn't working at all and all the sand was half a klm off shore.
Will MP paddle out on a 5'11"?

Big day ... Good day ... interesting day ... heaps of people ... something like 1500 plus for the paddle out ... must have been well over 3000 there in total ... fantastic.
I've lost the modem and am at dial up speed ... Ahhh ... catch ya later.

Pretty classic example this weekend.
Nice angled ENE swell hooking right into Kirra, and just a bunch of close-out sections along the bank. I guess this is what people refer to as fun Kirra. It actually had zero resemblance to Kirra as a pointbreak.
Superbank was cloudbreaking on the lower stages of the tide.
Would've been a very fun run of the mill "between swells" day at Kirra.
I took a few photos and I'll try and stitch a panorama together.

those photos look as though it was pretty good to me,again i wished i had allowed myself to drift down to surf it.often happens the pre surf plan of attack is to go out at snapper and get down to the groyne at kirra as quick as possible....the beach at kirra is in now way 400m wide , actually less than half that distance.
