Anyone seen any of the highlights? Nice swell and super clean.

Taylor Knox was on fire! To throw it out there as well, Dane Reynolds was also explosive on the open face proving to me yet again that he's the full package...unfortunately for him he was up against Mick who was in devastating form.

It was nice too see Bruce charge through to knock AI into round 2...I wonder if he's going to get some good results after announcing his departure from the tour?

Saw the highlights. It looks amazing... That heat with Parko and Knox was unbelieveable. It was good to see Occy get a wildcard too! Go the goofies!

in the song 'search and destroy', iggy sings, i'm a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm/i'm a runaway son of the nuclear a-bomb/i am a world's forgotten boy/the one who searches and destroys/honey gotta help me please/somebody gotta save my soul/baby detonate for me... it's as though he's swallowed the modern world with all its violence and suffering: imagine surfing like that, i reckon it would be something to see.

You sure he doesn't sing Surf and Destroy Al?

The one who's surfing to destroy!

That'd be Taylor Knox in round one.

t knox's waves were pretty sik, definatly some of the best surfing ive seen from him before in competition...parko looked crisp, taj looked alrite, mick was good and kelly did wat he needed to do..
bobby looked like the best of the goofys demolishing a couple of nice waves...

all the big names are still in and there is some alrite swell predicted to hit in the next few days so should make for a good highlights real

my call is parko to win, hes due

in the song 'i'm mad', the reverend horton heat sings, i'm mad! i'm mad! i'm mad! ... it's as though he's really mad. imagine surfing like that, i reckon it would be something to see.

i had to think for a while about that question. the truth is i'm not on anything, but i often feel high. if anything i think it's probably music - i listen to a lot of it and it tends to affect me quite strongly, in all kinds of ways. there must be other things, but that'll do for now - does it sound like a reasonable explanation?

jordy is looking good. if it stays over 4 foot he is in with a good chance...does some nice combo's and mix it up where as other guys seem to do the same turn over again. got $20 on him at 15-1

parko is looking smooth....and is with a good shot

mick or taj will win if it gets smalls.

bobby best chance of the goofies...his barrel was sick

like to see Taylor Knox win..but dont think he will

and slater.....hope he gets beat bad..

jordy is really performing. first time i've let myself think that - besides the sunset comp a couple years ago ... his round 2 performance was almost as good as taylors round 1. full power, well linked, smooth, versatile.

that performance puts him in the top 10 and nudging the top 5 for me - along with the few other guys who can really string it together.

good to see, will be watching his round 3 heat.

I saw footage of occy surfing jbay pre-event...trials maybe?, and he was ripping, vintage occ, powerful, on rail and throwing buckets. Couldn't translate that form into the main event I suppose.

I agree with wanto on Jordy. Up until Jbay I couldn't really understand what all the fuss was about. But his two heats at Jeffereys displayed some pretty amazing surfing - fast, super smooth, on rail from top to bottom, spontaneous and creative. Very interesting to see him and Parko(or a few others) going head to head in cracking 6 foot Jbay.

I don't care who wins to be honest. An aussie would be good though.

Only saw one heat of Jordy's but my tip is he will get beaten. He is an amazing surfer but watch what part of the wave he has been using as opposed to some others at the top of their game.

Dino Andino: "We're going to have Mark Occhilupo up in the commentary box next. An insightful guy Occy. He has some great insights into pro surfing life".

Next heat...

Occy (talking about Bobby Martinez): "Well Bobby's in the twilight of his career. I don't know when he's going to retire. Probably not soon".

Looking forward to some more golden insights from Occy!
