wax off an epoxy board

Just wondering whats the best way to get wax off my board, I live in a unit and the balcony doesn't get the sun so can't really leave it out, was thinking of pouring boiling water over it, but will this damage my board?

Is rocket science!

First, get mum's spatula from the kitchen and use it to clear as much wax as possible, but don't dig deep or you'll scratch the surface.

You could do that with a wax comb, if it has a straight edge on it, but where's the fun in that.

Then apply mineral turps to wipe off the last vestiges. I think it's turps, but it could be metho, or was that sulphuric acid?

Anyways, it's one of them.

Then throw spatula out and hope mum doesn't notice, and when she asks just act dumb.

thks oldman, knew you could put turps on a fibreglass board just wasn't sure about the epoxy

I think its the boiling water first followed by the sulphuric acid and then the spatula.

god, i must be bored.

use a hairdryer.

or run it under hot shower.

then scrape.

nearly right .... it's turps first followed by a match followed by buying a real surfboard ....

lol some....creative answers there, I know bout the epoxy but just got a second hand board to learn with then gona get a glass board. Also I'm so unbelievably accident prone I think I would end up breaking a glass board!

Neither am I actually!

I think it is the inner core that gets eaten away by turps, not the glass. I have one board with epoxy inner and the turps does fine, but it is a bamboo board so it ain't the same as yours.

Fibreglass is fibreglass and resin is resin - epoxy or polyester - it’s all PLASTIC of sorts.

Wouldn’t be too critical of epoxy boards, it’s good enough for Bert’s new Ferraris and Ferrari themselves.

which has just reminded me of the old days when wax was not so technically advanced and boardies were way too short ... sitting in school picking wax balls off the hairs on your hairy legs ....

these threads always make me wonder :? ... when I was a boy , well before the internet , I just got a ruler and scraped away the wax and it all seemed a bit obvious .... so what else do people ask on internet forums ....

what is the best method to combine the sugar with my coffee...

I have snot in my nose ... should I use chemicals to remove it ...

my arse is itchy , can anyone suggest a procedure to over come this situation ...

They are tough as fcuk, just get the paint scraper out - that's what I used on the one I had.

Fark I thought the epoxy question was tough, but this'l blow the rest of my day nutting them one's out. Regular Peter Berner ST, really takes the chocky cake
