With their exploding middle class populations, China and India must be attractive markets for major brands like yours, are there plans for targeting these countries?

Are you concerned about piracy in (from) these places?

What's your anti-piracy budget?

And what did you say your environmental budget was again?

It has been suggested that the purpose of surfing and surf fashion is to recreate the energy that existed at the beginning of the cosmos, since surfing and surf fashion function to reawaken that which existed at the beginning, to open the doors of this world, and to make that energy flow once more. By wearing Quiksilver, Billabong and Rip Curl, then, can we glimpse the eternal, escape the constraints of time (past, present, and future), and come to meet the Buddha?

bloody hell there's a lot of negativity towards surf companies here.
i think you're all just jealous about not owning or working for one of em.
who cares how much money they make off a shirt? if you don't want to buy it, don't. nike and adidas don't have to field these ridiculous questions
without big surf companies, what type of boards and wetties do you thing we would be riding? fark, as far as i can tell, companies with money sponsoring talented surfers progresses the sport. the result is better equipment and the quest for better waves. feel free to disagree, but i can't imagine surfing being where it is today without bucks being put back into it

someone's moaning about the rip curl wct comp - well here's a newsflash, sponsored photo and video trips uncovered large areas of amazing waves that none of us knew about. yeah, so bag rip curl on the one hand then happily book you boat trip to the mentawais on the other

there's probably bucketloads wrong with surf companies, but what's wrong with that? are you upset because you think they should represent exactly what surfing means to you - and if they don't you can't rant about how evil they all are?

the beauty of surfing is that none of this bullshit counts for anything. go down to the beach, and whether it's 1 foot or 10 foot, if you're a kook, you're a kook. doesn't matter whether you're wearing $90 t-shirts and rocked up in a surf branded ute or not.

Why complain about $90 t-shirts, the reason they can make them so expensive it because *** will still buy it.

You’re right, but obviously it does, so ya wrong as well, spook.

Otherwise they would enjoy the trappings of their success and continue to proliferate.

Not criticising them, just an observation.

With the rise in popularity in Australia with more and more world champions, do you plan to target and sponsor more bodyboarders?

Hell no, that's just so wrong... However, would like to know why there's ever increasing profts and ever-decreasing sponsorship dollars (in Australia, anyway).

Grab one of those marketing specialists Nick and ask what use they make of the statistics of age - At what age we stop buying their overpriced product and what age we start - ask them what they know about the incidental spending power of eight year olds in 2007 compared to 2001, ask them about how they use the statistics collected by our Federal Government, at our cost, ask them if they pay for special analysis of these results, ask them anything you like -

What would you know anyway ? Writers are writers, and big business is a very f.cken serious business, you don't speak their language mate.

How can a top 44 surfer (Bede, Dayan as well i think) not have a major sponsorship deal with a major company? And not an answer like they dont fit into our marketing profile.

Nick, please ask them what they make of the weird irrational negativity on forums such as this.

I'm sure that on many levels they couldn't care less - but I reckon it must bother the marketing people:

* What do they think caused/drives it?
* How do they address this?
* Can I have a free wetsuit?
