rub yourself over with vaso or baby oil just before you paddle out ... the pro is you wont get a rash but you wont make any take-offs .... happy to have helped ....
other than this I have heard of two amazing inventions that may help
1) boardshorts
2) rash vest
might be worth looking into ....

Cycling knicks for your nuts.
Those drug-fuelled road-geeks cycle 100's of km's a day with not a skerrick of nad chaff. Put em on under your boardies.
Paw Paw cream each night for pit and tit rash.

If you're talking tropical water, I find a light, sleeveless neoprene vest provides just enough padding to stop chest rash without getting too hot. Handy if the breeze is up as well.

I got some cream in Hawaii called Rashguard. It was fantastic for stopping rashes. Don't know if we can get it here though.

me too
back of me legs look like they've been swiped with a cheese grater.
I've had to stop combing the board.

A shortjohn works for me. Good grip on the board, no rash on the legs or torso. As it's sleeveless, there's no rash in the armpits and the arms are free to paddle. Also stops sunburn and doesn't really get too hot.

I found that cotton boardies dont give me a rash, I buy em from double bay clothing warehouse for about $10 a pair, plain black or grey, no fancy designs, sure they dont dry quick, but at that price you can afford to have some fresh dry ones at the ready.
