and this just in

While holiday makers on the north coast are being evacuated due too the impending cyclone and battling Thu raining flood waters everywhere north of Newcastle

merimbula bar on the "sunny south coast" is producing perfect waves with very few surfers and locals only too happy to give ya wave :!:

it's not too late cancel your flooded/rainny/unsafe nth coast holiday booking  go south and score

p.s this is a community annoucementon and behalf of north coast locals

Salty just turn off at the golf course and veer left into the abortion known as Shell Cove and take the first roundabout right. Drive past the school and up the hill and over the bridge then it should all become familiar to you. The Farm's no secret and for what its worth it was piss weak , packed and 2 feet. Ideal for my kids today :D

I would have thought pambula rivermouth would be pumping in this NE swell direction rather than merimbula bar, doesn't it need a S swell to fire?
I would love to see some spots around shellharbour like windang, suckhole and reddies right now, they would be on fire!!! And headies too!

most of shellharbour would be onshore in the NE'er, mini pipe would probably be cracking, i know somewhere thats about 4-6ft offshore cracking at the moment (not going to say where  ). there was one guy towing in and 3 paddling at about 5pm this arvo, dunno why the guy bothered towing, the guys paddling were getting the best waves by far.

I looked at The Pool (and Shallows??) around lunch. It was solid (8 feet+) and holding it well.

 it's a long way from "the humpy".

Yeh, Meribula bar only works on a big South swell. Conversely, the river mouth round the corner .... ohh, so long ago, but still fresh in my mind... definitely works best on a NE swell.

As the photos suggest, it was real shitty down here, bad angle coupled with bad banks = cranky man.
Today wasn't much better.
