Hi all just popped for a quick look.
But yeah just out in some nice waves yesterday when a guy and his young son paddle out.
Now dad really couldn't surf and he is out coaching his kid ..........
calling his son into waves that wheren't going to break and after about 20 min junior's screaming out that he hasn't caught a wave yet .........
So what chance has he got if he keeps surfing with his old man and have you seen this happen at your local
What chance has a kid got !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha its exactly the same with blokes tryin to teach their girlfriends.
sometimes after a while i paddle over to the chick, who's floundering in the whitewash and say "hey babe, i hate seeing you struggle at this, why don't you try learning off someone who can surf"
the boyfriend always glares afterwards when he has been informed by his girlie, its funny.

It might be more about father son bonding than learning to surf. You know, getting in some quality time with the kid. That's a good positive thing.
If neither father nor son can surf all that well they're only going to be out when the surf is tiny (same with the girlfriend scenario), which can be annoying but in the long run isn't any big deal.
Personally I often find it more of an annoyance when the father or boyfriend can surf and they take their son/daughter/girlfriend out to a decent break. Son/daughter/girlfriend inevitably end up just getting in the way without learning much, while father/boyfriend pick off waves.
So, if you are a father/boyfriend and you want to teach your son/daughter/girlfriend to surf, concentrate on the teaching. Don't take them out where you want to surf. Take them somewhere that's best for them.
