Surf at Swansea?

Post by kateb » Mon Sep 03, 2007 7:56 pm

I've been roped into a weekend at Blacksmiths Beach. Does anyone know where I can find some surf around there?

Head a bit north of swansea and youse might find some surf "friendly" beaches or youse could go a bit more north of a "bitch ya no" and you'll find heaps of things to ride right beside the road  you'll be looking for someone to surf with rather than be worrying about crowds btw.
If it's well engineered it's beautiful .

Hangabout!

You're talking about Blacksmiths Beach, just north of the Swansea channel on the Central Coast, aren't you Katherine?

But Munch, the bloody drongo, is giving you directions to waves near Swansea in Tasmania. Dont know why.....

Anyway...Blacksmiths is just a beachie, but the southern end, in the lee of the breakwall, is good under heavy southerly conditions. If it's this weekend your talking about then your laughing; the east swell should get in there and it'll be protected from the wind.

Caves Beach is the other side of the channel. Catherine Hill Bay is 10 mins south. Both have good waves, but both get crowded.

yea its not a bad spot when the swell is up , i used to take me 4wd up there and drive along to get a bank on our own . i found the south end is smaller the the north , we used to camp on the beach all the time . not bad but the swell dose have to be UP . this weekend should see some waves , surf low tide to high.
let us no how ya go !!!!

Lakes Beach a bit south (about 10-15 from swansea) can get some decent waves...

Catho is always a safe bet aswell..

Never really checked Blacksmiths...

Drive past it 3 times a week but never had a look there.
