How far from the beach do you live ?
Where do you live in relation to the proximity of the beach . Have you allways lived there. I have a friend who seems to be surfing more since he has moved away from the beach.
I live in Adelaide, which suffers from the eternal flatspell due to it's location in the gulf (10 to 20 days of 2-3ft stormies is the best i get). I live about 5 mins away from the beach, but there's no surf there.
My nearest wave source is the mid coast (halfway down the gulf) which is comparable to metro perth in size and consistency, it's got some very good setups though. That's about a 45 min drive from my house.
I most frequently surf at victor harbour which is about 1.5hrs away and is quite consitent and has a lot more exposure to waves.

Hey Stokie!
I live on the mid man - 2 minutes walk from the beach.
The viccos and nsw-ers would hate it I tell ya. A good day on the mid is flat by their standards.
So I drive 30 minutes to the south coast when it's on.

I live a couple of minutes from Brown Water and about 5 mins from Collaroy Beach all walking distance. If i ever check the reefs, i can gauge if Points on. I surf there. Sometimes i surf Curly or Southy. All with in 15 mins drive.
The furtherst ive ever lived from the beach is when i was little living in Portland in Oregan. Only live there a few months though.

Wouldn't have thought of Concord as a hot-bed of surfers Good to see people staying on it regardless of where they live.Gone_West wrote:I live quite far away in Concord (inner west). 32kms each way, I can get to the beach in 30-35mins if I leave before about 6:00am, if I sleep in it can take 1.5 hours.
It's strange that all of my neighbours are keen surfers.
I'm further than I'd like to be from the coast - nth Ryde - so about 30-40 mins for me
I grew up on DY headland .. a leisurely stroll down the hill to DY or over the hill to Nth Curly ...... but alas .... Sydney house prices have driven me westward into the sticks .... I now live 3km from Long Reef, 3.5km to Sth Narra ... can see most of DY and Longy at a distance from my bedroom window ....

I live down south about as close as you can get to RNP beaches but that is still a 15min drive about 15 mins from Cronulla too. Lived up at FF and used to surf DY and Longy a bit, when I wasn't training for another sport. I would cycle past them everyday. I grew up in Miranda but spent a few stints renting in Cronulla.
