Re: Just general surfing stuff
Why is JS pumping out these new HYFI 2.0 boards for $1200 when any local shaper can make something for $600? I need something to float my fat ass around but marketplace is always so hit and miss. “All dings professionally repaired” … yeah by you, in your lounge room.

The moving finger writes and having writ moves on ... now all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel even half a line ... nor all thy tears wash out a single word of it.

You mean I can’t just chuck a Small PC3 in the back and ride it as a single?
Re: Just general surfing stuff
Or if you’re talking about my longboard riding, it’s more like this

Re: Just general surfing stuff
In all seriousness does anyone have suggestions for a 6'4 intermediate bloke who weighs a fit 95-100kg (Pro athlete in lives gone past. Concussions have stolen a lot of the memories from me unfortunately).
I'm very partial to JS as I've never had a bad board from them, however looking at their selections I just don't know that they cater to anyone larger than 80kg anymore. I was really after a Bullseye or a Raging Bull but got talked out of them. I don't care about HYFI material either, PU is fine. What about the Monster Box in a round tail? I'm fine surfing anything between 37-42L. Ideal dims 6'4 - 21 - 2 3/4. I don't really like the easy rider option because i'm not that shit or fat. When the points are good I'm surfing 6-8 but more commonly 3ft beachies.
'Are there any other shapers you guys recommend? My old man has a great one shaped down at Culburra and he raves about it.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I’ve never been a JS fan but have bought a couple of Blak Boxes from the factory for around $600. They’re factory seconds but I struggle to see what’s wrong with them. The last one I got had the carbon stringer thingy put on with a bit of a wiggle on the deck which I couldn’t give a fuck about.
I keep an eye on the website and pounce if there’s something I like and you can pick up from the factory.
Here’s one that might interest a fatty like you.

6’3-6’4 pyzel phantom round tail.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
Or go to any of those local shapers you reckon you can get something made for $600 and tell em what you want.

Drop in and see Mick at Spooky Point Surfboards in South Tweed ... he makes really nice boards.

His pricing is reasonable, not sure about the $600, though.

Looks the goods. Love supporting local. The $600 is in reference to the last two I had made in NSW, but being nomadic I give them away or relatives inherit them. Not gonna bite on it.
I was all set to buy from a few different shapers on here back in the day (and no none of them were Roy Stewart) but it seems like the place has really only got a handful of posters anymore. All good things must come to a… something.

Local customs have generally gone up in price the last couple years as has everything in manufacturing.
Webby in Ballina 3 years ago I think was around $650 for a shorty and now around $800.
