Sydney has muscled up since this morning. Normally surfing Manly on a Saturday would be madness; head and a half with bigger sets right now and easy to get a wave. Size increases, crowd pisses off!!!

Howling onshore, big and junkie East wind swell, water is warm by Victorian standards.

Town beach port Macquarie at about 3-4 foot. Tide was a little to low and the swell a bit too south for it to be working at best potential but some fun walking peaks all the same. Yesterday a quick single lap at broken head. Breaking at around 4-5 foot, with some pretty solid looking bigger sets further up the beach. Only picked off three waves, first couple I was sitting too deep on and sectioned out. The next one was ok, but a bit fat. Fair bit of sweep running.

Id have spent the entire day surfing the GC points if I could have. But was heading back south with Wife and child in tow. Dropped them off in Byron with some walking around money and on a strict time limit. then quickly caught up with Merkin. But burnt time scoping Lennox (was good but not epic and pretty packed out) then drove to broken head car park, which was packed out a klm back, so walked up from mid Suffolk. Only really had time for a single lap. All good, whatever. Got to at least give the 8'5 Wayne Rich fin a test out. So far it feels really drivey and steady and should give the 6'0 single a lot more scope in the size of waves I can take it out in.

I've been surfing a single fin this whole swell. insano old 70s 6'5ish thing with a roundish pin and flyers with little concaves in em. flat bottom to a vee starting just in front of the fin and out through the tail.

so many people commenting on it when I surf it or carry it up the beach.
easy entry, handles late drops, deepest bottom turns I can muster, still turns easily and fast fast fast - never surfed a board like it

Looks nice. A board like that would handle eight foot point waves for a fella your size. Good paddler too. Love single fins on point waves. Kicking myself I didn't surf singles up there all those years ago

Yep real good paddler, heaps of easy entries to set a rail and gun it in the barrel, Kirra was hit and miss for making it out though, most people just got eaten. I got into a real deep one just inside big groyne and then got lit up by 5 wave set on the sand bar.

Gonna copy the shape at some point this year

that sure looks like a nice board el. half the rush of running down for a few is cooly spying peripherally the rubber necking at the board you're carrying.
that bit of mat needs some doubled over gaff in the corner.

Flutes is the correct terminology when referring to said design principle on a surfboard of that vintage, designed no doubt by baby boomers.

You're welcome.
