Re: Where did you surf today ?
For the first time in my surfing life I've got a good-wave thruster that I really gel with, feels like cheating.
But I don't have any allegiance.
For knee high it's a single fin egg (has quad plug option too), knee to waist is a short wide quad, waist to head and a half is the thruster or if really heavy a slightly shorter quad, and over that or when I need to cover ground is back to a single.

knee high on a small single fin is hard work, on any board in fact, compared to a nice singlefin longboard.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Fastest wave I tink Ive ever caught was through to Greenmount on my Fishcuit. Don't surf it down here much anymore. Too flat rocketed most of the time. Also best ever wave at Sandon. So fast I still can't remember it......but it was good.

Yeah I know rancho but I can't justify a log as realistically if it is knee high I'm not driving to the coast. With the quad option the egg is more versatile as low-energy cover for longer trips.
And probably more mid thigh-groin on the iggy scale
Just got back from near your haunt er, funny sort of swell and bank but some righteousness at times. Sweep was as expected.

Didn't realise there is now an Iggy scale for body parts as well
Wasn't the whole point of using body parts to get away from the Iggy scale?

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I surfed cooly point cos I was meant to meet a mate there and thought the southerly buster would come in strong. It didn't and the surf wasn't that good and was predictably crowded. Would've been alright over the border I think.alakaboo wrote:Yeah I know rancho but I can't justify a log as realistically if it is knee high I'm not driving to the coast. We've changed it now . It's ALL body part measurements.Beanpole wrote:Didn't realise there is now an Iggy scale for body parts as well

Example: the surf was from "testicle hang to navel high consistent" and "solar plexus to jugular" on the sets.

Where do the giblets fit in?
Gall bladder high in the sets.
Or are we measuring the troughs these days?

It wasn't great but it was a shit-ton more fun than the crowd/wave ratio at greenmount.
Fairly heavy too, drew some blood from my chin on the deck of my board after doing a lap in the lip.

Never thought I'd say this but had some fun waves at Caba on the low this arvo.
Earlobe to temple high on the ones that hugged the inside bank with the odd barrell on offer. A shark cruised through which cleared the already thin crowd.

I surfed it last weekend and it was predictably obese except for the end section.
Saltman's mate with the helmet and paddling gloves had a bit of a run-in with a surly tradesmen too.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Yep. I'm still in shock. It was as fat as usual out the back but it was a different story on the middle to inside bank. I've always thought it was a hoax wave but today was different. I looked at D'bah and there was a bit of swell getting in there but looked straight except for the south corner where there was a contest.

Watch a coast hugging ECL from the NE will smash the bank to smithereens for another two years.

There are so many better waves on the East Coast.

Maroubra. I don't surf Bondi.
The bank itself is good. A righthand ripbowl but with a LOT of water being drawn backwards with it. Which is great if the conditions are good. But in sparse weak blown out windslop, it means lots of water moving, very shift peaks, with water also sucking you out the back in between the waves breaking. Lots of luck involved, and timing and postitioning is right down to the wire. Then when you do jag something shapely, sure enough some gumby is bound to be paddling wide out over the shoulder getting in the way.
