That made me laugh.

Hey Shearer - I've a sea life identification question for you.

Last week I was surfing Winki (Vic) and I found myself sitting in a mass of these strange jelly like creatures. They were so dense it was like sitting in soup (cold soup). They were like clear caterpillars about 30 mm long with multiple segments like they were a string of clear beads. Each bead had two black filaments hanging down. The mass was quite deep too, could feel them tickling my feet when sitting on my board.
No stinging or itching experienced on any exposed body parts. Any ideas?

Pinhead, they were probably salps.
Look like jellyfish, but they don't sting and they are more closely related to Cunjevoi. Generally a sign there are a lot of nutrients in the water.

Not as warm as my youngest child though, you could cook a passable stir fry on their head.

Yeah, the mozzies make me itch like fcuk. Just the standard itchy bumps that go away pretty quickly. Quicker if you don't scratch, but it's hard to take that approach. And I resist chemical repellents mostly. I know too much about some stuff

March (December) flys love me too. They hurt a little and then itch me like fcuk
