Bondi low tide and closing out the length of the beach. Decided to go for a walk instead. Saw guy with one of those Softech foamies with the hand grip in the deck and a hat on walking down to go out. Came back to see the same guy walking up from the water with Softech foamie snapped in half and his hat down around his neck.

There’s a pommie commentator on the bells longboard comp who’s accent sounds more suited to commentating the royal weddings and funerals.

Absolutely trips me out there is an audience for "pro" long boarding comps.

Nah, it’s not that far west of Tahiti.
Much closer to Tahiti than Fiji.

Hope you like short ride, shallow reefs.
If you plan to go on any tours like reef, turtles, fishing, surf guide etc go see the guys at Go Local. Legends.

Thanks buddy, we’re just going in blind, spur of the moment decision. Will I need to take a board? I’d be happy to ride any old thing if boards are available.

No, take a board.
They have nothing and if you find something it will be shit and expensive.
A board to get in, take the drop, barrel and out.
You can do turns occasionally but not what you’re there for.

Why is that? Is it that the essence of long boarding isn’t suited to competition?

I know it was probably bait for Trev and BPole but, is there any reality in your statement?
