Funniest thing I've heard in a while was GT saying, "nothing would be better than a back door climax"..
Re: Dark Pandemonium: Parko@Pipe.
Slats reminds me so much of Federer - never satisfied. He wasn't happy about losing one bit. How's his quote" Yeah Kerrzy beat me in the first contest of the year and the last, that stings a bit. " He obviously just lives for competition, even at this stage of the game.

I take it coops you were underwhelmed by the conditions under which the title for the world championship were held.Coops wrote:lol

That last wave for Parko in the semi was freakish. Worthy of a win on that wave alone.
Waves just didn't do it for Slater, which is so unusual, kept shutting down on him.
Nice cool way for Parko to win in the final too, coolly waiting and getting a couple of good ones towards the end.

Re: Dark Pandemonium: Parko@Pipe.
Fcuk that was gnarly.
I made a vow never to place an emotional weight on a world champion contender after TC got knocked on a priority paddling interference in 1988. I'd fcuken had enough of being wrung out and having to watch.
Well I broke that vow with Parko, I came here hoping with all my surfer's heart that he'd end today as the world champ, because I felt his surfing and character belonged in that lineage, and he did.
I'm never going through that shit again I can tell ya.

Yeah, Parko.
Funny ceremony. I thought.
That guy from the Bong?
Was he p*ssed or what.
You have to hand it to Slater.
He knows how to conduct himself with grace on the podium.
Parko seemed a bit overwhelmed as he has every justification in being.
As the real intensity and relief played out the sometimes glib storylines the commentators tried to weave around proceedings became more and more off center. Parko was right. It all seemed a bit surreal.

He was there to pass on the world champ trophy. It was his to pass on. I think that's standard procedure but i'm not sure.Legion wrote:Why was he even on the podium? I thought that was inappropriate.Beanpole wrote:You have to hand it to Slater.

I found the emphasis on Andy kind of put Parko out of kilter. Great to mention him a bit but it seemed to be one of a number of things thrown into the ceremony that on their own wouldn't add up to much but taken together tended to put Parko to the side of the event rather than center stage in my opinion. Sea Bass got a far more fulsome rave. The Billabong Guy was all over the shop. Maybe he was afraid Parko would hit him up for a raise.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

i should make that vow. i was a mess this morning! Couldn't eat breakfast, grinded all my nails down to the bone and was pacing around like a lunatic until Kerrzy did everyone proud! And I don't even know the guy personally! haNick Carroll wrote:Fcuk that was gnarly.
