Santa

Post by Donweather » Fri Nov 02, 2012 1:01 pm

Well a few of the big names struggled in the average conditions at Steamer Lane last night.

The only one (of the big names) who looked completely in control was Parko, with him showing a variety of maneouvres in the critical part of the wave each time. That carve he did in his 9.0 ride was sensational.

Slater's wave choices yet again (same as Peniche) let him down BIG TIME IMO.

I thought you were talking about xmas  . Do you think they will all slip up in the 2nd round? Maybe AI is helping Parko from the grave on the 2nd yr anniversary of his passing.

Yep, some major upsets this morning for sure.

Can't believe Fanning lost it with a 9.73 on his first wave!!!!!

the interview babes are really good to look at

the Fanning heat sucked, he let the last wave go and Jadson poo-stanced 6 of the world's ugliest 'turns' to get a 7.5

laughable scoring, but Mick made a mistake letting that one through. in hindsight of course

That was a huge air, fully committed. The crowd thought he got it. The commentators seemed to think he might. The judges seem to be the only ones who thought it wasn't in the ball park.

Serious? I thought it was one of the few judging decisions that was okay.

That air by Dusty was dog ugly.
Half-rotated, off balance and out of position (which is not the same as inverted, as the commentators called it).
Commitment to turns, even slightly fluffed as Kelly's were, is completely different to 'committing' to an air. At least Medina's second one was clean.

Dusty got dusted.

Don, it was in response to this:

I thought the judging decision to award Mick a 9.73 was dreadful.
I thought the decision to advance Kelly was correct. Dusty's air was rubbish.

the scoring in the first two heats was fucked and totally abstract from the the later rounds when there was real waves.

they shouldn't have ran in that, it sucked and they could have waited.

medina's second air was sweet, who did he beat again??

also brad gerlach should be head judge of the ASP. he is on fire and totally critical of every little flaw in a turn.

legend.

Gerlach/Blakey is a rock solid commentary team.

i think dusty was ripped. Think somewhere in the 8 range was appropriate for the air, however slater with a 7.17 for 2 setup turns and a reentry, and then an 8.67 for a good turn, a bogged turn and a floater??

Dusty should have only needed a 7 or 8 on that last wave and he definitely got that.

Lot's of big claims going down again. Judges should deduct points for them. Medina would be in the negative.
