dino's a crack up, sorry about the pun, dino. nice new photo dino.3 prong wrote:Dino..my kids nippers are also full of people new to the northern beaches from all parts of the globe...this to me suggests it's even more important for them to join...so at least this generation(unlike their parents) will have some water skills. Its a benefit to both you/me and our kids safety whilst we're in the water with them.Maybe next time you could put your hand up and offer to help the kids learning to paddle...they'd appreciate it and some of the parents actually have said thanks as well
my daughters in the nippers & my sons will also be.
i can't speak for the northern beaches 'cos a lot has changed in the 16 years i've been up here.
speaking of up here, the nippers are great.
kids socialise with school friends & kids who live in & surrounding areas!
i meet parents i normally wouldn't through the kids' school, swimming club, oz-tag, soccer, football, rugby, weekends in the flags with the kids, etc.
some parents are ultra-super-competitive, but i choose my friends.
my own experience in the nippers was great, nothing but great friendships & great memories from age 4 - 10, 1974 - 1980 at Freshie. I even came 4th in the state in 1974-1975 summer for the beachsprint in the U 5's. got my photo in the manly daily proudly wearing the freshie cap. (pity they are also manly colours in the footy).
my parents have many friends in SLSC's at Freshie, Manly & Avoca Beach.
Avoca Beach SLSC has a great thing called sundays sippers where parents can take the kids for a meal on a sunday arvo, have a drink, enjoy the view from the balcony of the club & the kids can catch up with the other kids. I'm sure other clubs have similar things going on. very sociable, community building activities.
don't like it, dino? suck it up, princess. you must be a miserable, anti-social, cynical, immigrant-hating sod. have i mentioned you look stunning in your new photo, camper?
sorry, don't agree with that one, 3 prong. everyone's experience may be different though!

Re: the young clubbie killed at the aust titles on the goldy
Dinos' nippers experience exactly reflects mine.
3 or 4 hours on a beach in prime weekend lawn mowing time, or god forbid, perhaps even a surf. They get to sit on the beach, have a couple of sand races, move to the other end of the beach, have to sit quietly, move to the other end of the beach, wonder when oh when they will get a chance to actually do something, maybe even fun. Often barely even getting in the water.
All the time either in hot sun or worse still, on those unseasonal cold days sitting around getting cold and wondering when the fun is going to start.
I'm not always comfortable with the somewhat 'controlling' types who tend to be attracted to running these activities as well.
But you have to remember that I don't like anyone, especially you.

Blokes in bikini bottoms shouting at me through a loudspeaker to get the fark out of the swimmers zone farks me off summin’ severe specially when there’s a grotesque bullet shapped bank and not a pink swimmer in sight.
Why are you held responsible and punished for drink driving if your decision to drive in the first place has been impaired by alcohol?
It is not illegal to drink alcohol.
In fact the government has put the responsibility on pubs and clubs to make sure that their patrons do not drink too much under threat of heavy fines. Some people will keep drinking till they fall over if they could get away with it.
I’m not saying that drink driving is a good thing is just that there seems to be some inconsistency and non alcohol fuelled incoherence in the law.
….and no I haven’t been caught for drink driving !
P.S If you ever get drive and talk on your mobile a lot it’s a good idea to have a second mobile handy.
If the police stop you present your second mobile in evidence showing through your call log that NO calls where made, received or dialed.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

If ther's water inside, bodies sink. After a couple of days, enough gases are produced to refloat them
