Can see how that stretch could get epic on the right swell/wind/tide combo but could easily be frustrating as hell if one of them not cooperating.steve shearer wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 11:45 amThats nice mate.
I've put a lot of hours into those beachies.
Where did you surf today ?

I never used to surf the Points (dumb) so would paddle out in 20-30 knot onshores.

same ... that's all i've surfed the past 24 months. been too injured to start surfing back down here. soon though. i'm nearly ready.steve shearer wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 11:45 amThats nice mate.

regularly get 8 foot days, proper 8 foot and perfect out at a spot in them middle of the northern beaches, coffee rock underneath. just a mad wave.
it was surprising to tune into surfline reports and golide would be flat everywhere but up there it's still 2foot and consistent and fun. all in all, not sure i've surfed as much as i did when i lived at sunrise/ peregian.
edit: i don't mean regular 8 foot swells, i just mean when it is 8 foot, it's regularly holding it and perfect.

I'm guessing its a similar setup to Casuarina ... gets epic there at times, but very open to southerlies.steve shearer wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 12:18 pmYep, picks up lots of swell and real quality when it's on.

Yep, except the coffee rock set-ups.

I’m reminded of this Sunshine Beach clip from 7 years ago. And no, it isn’t regularly this good. Though I was out there a few years before this and it was similar. That was also a June swell. One of the chaps out there on my session reckoned it was about the best he’d surfed it in the 20 years he’d lived there.

I’ve seen epic photos from quite a few backbeaches between there and port mac of that swell.
All cooking.
If you could get out.

There used to be some nice coffee rock at North Kirra ... until they pumped all that sand around the corner.

Not to mention the reef way out off Kirra.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Well, technically ... but they drowned it in sand and fucked up the surf.

And yes, thats pretty much environmental vandalism, but no one seems to talk about it much.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
there were two recent swells better than that black saturday one. 2020 covid swell and last cyclone season. covid swell was just a flawless 8 with gutters and channels and you could time it and get out the back with dry hair. just a conveyor belt for close to two weeks of swell and good winds - big, long walling lefts at this spot near me - like 20 turn waves. and the right off it, shorter, but totally square with proper spit outs into the channel.foamy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 12:43 pmI’m reminded of this Sunshine Beach clip from 7 years ago. and last cyclone season. the most perfect 10-12 foot beachies i've ever seen. proper 12 foot sets for about 6 hours from dusk - zero wind fluffing up into a light offshore. swell from the dead east, the sweep was non-existent, but there was so much volume of water in the waves and they were relentless.
some guys paddled for an hour to get out and would just reach out the back and then a bomb set would throw them back onto the beach. it was a pure lotto on who got out. not a ski in sight.
if you got out the back, that day was more scary than a shipsterns swell. picking the good ones, step ladder sets out to sea. the shark nets were floating in the wave faces. 300 odd metres out waiting for a wave to get back in
