Nah it's pretty legit.
One of my local breaks will be 35-50ft on Thursday.
25.5ft swell at 18s.
Probably a Brazilian kilojoules.
Schools will be closed due to flooding, beaches are going to disappear. Houses and hotels could start falling into the ocean. Good for my business.
Mavericks peaking at 32,000kJ on Thursday.
About the same size as the swell that hit Uluwatu about 8 years ago that I had the privilege of watching from sunup to sundown.
The big day, Thurs, has a max wave size of 7 meters and 32,000kJ , while Friday is max 5m and only 14,000kJ

That looked to be about 15-20ft.
I think Mavericks will be double that size.

You Northerners sick of surfing yet? What a run of swell. While you’ve had that, we’ve had 2ft onshore dribble. For like two weeks.

I turned my nose up at uncrowded 4ft Point surf today.

I’d crawl out of bed with Loofy to get into that.

3 hr session south Maroubra, solo for the most part. Strong cross-shore wind, 4-5 foot mix of dropping east ground swell and building south windswell. Clean faces, shifty but plenty of peaks. Got a couple of angular rights that ran for about 80 to 100 metre. Blustery, ugly weather conditions but a decent score for uncontested Sydney surf.

Sounds terrible.
Glad to have a rest today. Only missed about one day in the last couple of weeks.

Maverick's is 30-35 foot with a howling onshore.
May clean up late today but I don't know if anyone will be frothing to get out there.
Looks like it will be above 8ft for at least the next 2 weeks, and there are a couple of storms spinning up behind this one.
I need a bigger board.
But I'm more interested in the snow. Another 9 (actual) feet predicted in the next week.

Yeah about 2 - 3 hours drive, probably a lot longer now though given the amount of snowfall in Northern California.
As Boo says California is going to get a solid run of swell for the next couple of weeks, my shoulders are already aching with the thought of it!

About 3 hours to the closest snow, 4 to the big Tahoe places.

Another go out south Maroubra. 3-4 foot, more defined south-east swell with gusty south-east winds. Only 3 out.
Again, shitty weather but clean faces and some decent long rides. Further up the beach a little bigger and more a-frame shaped with steep roll ins and a nice dredging inside bank.
Got stacks, and more turns in with better shaped waves. Love gloomy days like this, nearly always uncontested.

I reckon the Sydney water temps have bumped up a couple of degrees since Saturday. And super clear despite the weekend rain.

Water here barely even cools you down.
Every now and then you paddle through a slightly cooler patch, which is nice.
I don’t know how some people are wearing rubber tops or even spring suits
