It's a fairly similar shape to a couple he's made out of foam and fiberglass which he carves on pretty well.
Currently his wife is suggesting they use it as a wall hanging. :-?

Some of you might remember Mick. Ledge71 on here.
He keeps popping out boards when he feels like it.
His latest project produced this gem.

That is a beautiful board - solid timber or skins?
In response to another query he said it was hollow. Does that explain it?

I'll have a dig back through his FB page and see if I can find more.

Done here. Looks like they have monthly "Make your own wooden surfboard" projects.

This is the little 5'6 ive been plugging away at. Its not been easy without the side lights and these might take a while to get, so I decided to just go for it without. To get around any scratches i might not pic up or bumps i might not see im going to paint the whole board white with an additive as well then leave for 24 hours, sand back lightly, hey presto, I cheated. I still have work to go on the stringer around the cresent tail, its a job of patience. Im happy with fin placement but not the toe in. I placed them one and a half inches from the rail and then gave a two mill toe, I think I should have given it one mil. So im going to revisit this down the track. I really wanted to use the 4ws system though to get my hands on a jig is to expensive for this backyarder so Im revistiing glassing the fins on the board.

Anyways, this is what ive been hacking away on. Im experimenting with this as I will never ride it, to small, the measurements are 5'6 x 20 by something thick as not measured at this stage. You can see the big single running down it in one of the shots. Thinking I might add a fcs for a trailer, run a small moon fin, just to see what its like.

Painting starts next week when I can source the paint, additive, newspapers and painters tape to mask up some sections, will take pics when I do it.

This is the blank I sorta shaped with yorky over a few beers, well, more than a few actually, five years back, when he was still on the sunshine coast. I never got to complete it, only cut out the outline and roughed in the rocker. So this blank may be possibly be the longest time anyone has ever taken to shape a board, five years and counting.

hey digger I made my own jig for 4WFS, it is for the under-glass nano pod boxes. it took a bit of frigging around but if you are handy with power tools you could rig one up pretty easily out of a bit of perspex or similar. I will try and dig out a photo.

The old style 4WFS boxes can be installed after glass and can be done with a hole saw attachment on a drill if you are accurate and careful, the queensland supplier might still have a stash of those if you contact them.

here is a picture I hope it works, I over complicated it a bit but have included basic instructions on how i did it:
1. find a piece of perspex, cut out a circular hole that matches the diameter of the base of the plug with a mm or two play using a hole saw (one of the standard sizes worked well)
2. cut out a bigger circular hole matching the diameter of the box lip (again one of the standard hole saw cutters worked)
3. cut an additional extension matching the shape of the trailing tab on the lip of the box I used a jigsaw then trued it up with a router bit.
4. frig around with a bunch of spacers to get the right depth of cut based on what router bits you have. This is basically all the other bits and pieces I have attached to the main jig.
5. there is also a bit of frigging around to get the alignment right but a few practice runs on a blank offcut should allow you to work it out.

I hope this helps.

Cheers bloke. Thanks for putting that up, will study it a bit later. I definately need to make one though I think I should go for glass on. Ive only glassed on once and since this is a pratice blank to get back into it I will go for it once agian. Im even thinking of making a leash loop near the tail for it as well. Ive painted the deck and bottom, got fuzzy lines, bleeds under the tape, at the tail it bleed across the stringer  Thinking I wont paint again as I was so bloody careful but still came out screwed. The only way I will paint is if I do it the same colour. Might try to get into tinting instead. Ahh, just feeling down about it.

I sanded off the glass over the plugs and tried a set of 4WFS keels in the boxes here are photos in the three different toe angle settings

Ive decided to glass on some fins on mine tally. This is just an experiment board to get me back into shaping so Im also going to go for a leash loop as well. I like the idea of not plugging holes in a surfboard if not needed. Plus glass on just sort of make me smile, man Im getting old. Im going to make myself a jig for sure and cheers for posting. Ive now got plans for a bonzer in the works plus another twinny. Im keeping this 5'6 board and using it to experiment with, I want to make a rocker profile with it for the top and bottom for keep sakes as the plan shape just looks real pleasing to the eye. Im having a mate help me with the glassing as its been five years so im paying him for a refresher course in glassing, glossing, plus learning how to do a leash loop and improve my skills on glassing fins. Next month I will tackle it plus get myself another blank to start work on the next one.

I still need to do a bit to get it finished, I was away for the last week but hope to have it finished by the end of this week. I am going to add FCS plugs for a centre fin and need a leash plug and then sand it all to get it done. will post up a couple of pictures when finished.
