Difference is, W-nut, a screen jockey probably does it in 15 minutes if they are motivated - repetition is the key to all things, and also the bane.

Looks good mate.

ha, they flowed fairly well where I worked for a while, but we did stick to the lighter varieties… can't be drink driving 'n all

Hey wingy, you sure you didn't over sand that board? I don't recall seeing cracks on the underside of the rail like that and I've seen some horribly compressed tails.

You wouldn't 'see' it on good production boards, but the reality is they just top up any over-sands or shiny spots with a bit of UV or clear acrylic spray and give it a tune up that way.

Not uncommon to see 'some' weave around plugs but if they have doubled up the cloth, as they should, then it should be strong enough. I'd be more concerned with strength than appearance, give it a gently squeeze and make sure they haven't egg shelled it.

Wouldn't be overly concerned with the dry patch.

Otherwise, yeah a bit disappointing considering you paid full freight.

nothing wingnut, IM still dreaming of shaping again and my missus agrees that once we stop travelling I can get a container and stick it somewhere to shape out of, but that will be quite a while I think. Im tossing the idea around of getting and playing with aku shaper as Im over not mucking around with a blank.

Do you have a shed set up in ya backyard?

How long does it take to glass in Epoxy?

Where did you get ya outline templates from? You use spin templates or full size ones?

He uses heat lamps to cure the epoxy

I use AKU for templates
How long does it take you to shape a board? I've tried a few times, but don't seem to have the patience for it.

I've watched a few guys who do it for a living and they're up around the 1.5 - 2.0 hr mark and are going flat chat at that - how they heck you doing it in 45 mins? Are you are using a preshape? So not working from a pure blank and using templates, mowing the foam by hand, etc.?

Scrubbing the ridges off the machine cut blank, tidying up the nose and tail and marking where you want the fins - I can see that would be done in 45 mins, but a whole 'handshape'?

Ah, so you are not actually "shaping". From the way your phrased your comments I thought you were shaping, with templates from AKU.

I think the industry term for what you're doing is "scrubbing". Those that do it known as "scrubbers".

More scrubbers than shapers these days lol. If it's for yourself why not? What's the big deal? Why even bring it up gcuts?

Nice boards saltman

Always thought of doing 2 similar boards. One slightly wider, thicker under the chest and smoother rockered, and one slightly narrower, more foiled with a bit more rocker. The thinking being they'd surf similar, but in different waves. Post up more pics of the two mate
