my current shortboard is for replacement soon.
the design hasn't changed much over the last few years and i am happy with that.
it is a 6'3" x 18.5" x 2n3/8ths rounded (area) pin, single to double to flat - pretty standard hp thruster.
i am interested in trying a hp quad set-up not too far removed.
so i would like have more plugs put in the board.
i notice some big name shapers are offering the option on some models.
i figure at worst i will lose the cost of having the plugs installed.
has anyone put additional plugs in an old (9 mth) thruster with success?
are the dimensions/placements of hp thrusters and hp quads incompatible?

Re: thruster + two more trial
in general the front fins of a board made as a thruster will be too far forward to simply whack in a set of extra plugs and ride it like a quad ... I did it once and the board felt like it had an anchor when set up with the quad fins .. when you see 5 fin convertibles the front fins are moved back a touch to compensate .. it's a compromise between a true thruster set up and a quad set up
Re: thruster + two more trial
cheers for that.
i guess that means either a compromised quad or a compromised thruster.
not necessarily both.
