Thursday and Friday are shaping up to look pretty nuts. 6-8 foot of SE/ESE swell. Must be due for some sick leave.

you got some slack to play with Iggs......looks like a great week of surf.

I've surfed every day since autumn started. Been insane fun waves.

Yep. Will take either the Thursday or Friday off. Will decide by Tuesday based on the forecast. There'll be lots of options down south based on the looks of the forecast.

Thinking the same thing. Missed all weekend and can't surf early this week - i'm not missing this swell or these conditions.

will give get to give this 6'10 puppy it's first run in the 6foot plus region. based on how it went on saturday (cutting like a scalpel through bumpy double overhead peaks) it should eat it up no probs.

Autumn has started beautifully. March has been ultra consistent.

the last one we had when it went for 7 odd years back at the start of this century ... i still remember all kinds of waves. the drought was terrible and had a massive impact on general life, for sure. but wave-wise i still remember a number of full blown swells.

eg: that damon harvey 8-foot wave from outside snapper to little groyne kirra happened bang in the middle of it.

El Nino winters are awesome here.

this autumn has got me completely flummoxed with respect to the pattern change.

It was supposed to be a La Nina tendency spring/summer and we got record dry conditions and an endless spring. now the pacific looks more like a quasi El Nino and we are in record flood territory.
There seems a complete and total decoupling of actuality from the expected pattern based on pacific basin tendencies.

Hasn't it been fairly classic La Nina except for this Debbie disruption?

unless you count record dry conditions for NENSW and SEQLD as "classic La Nina" then no. They are supposed to be the areas most affected by la nina, which is a wet signal.
Ballina had under 300mm for the whole spring and summer.

We've had about 700 for march alone and it shows no sign of relenting.

Saltman, doesn't look like it. Last couple of days has been semi-clean 4-6ft- no-one out.......surfable for sure but no way on gods earth am I going to surf alone in that floodwater.
I think it'll be at least a week or two before the water even remotely clears. But by all means if it you're up for it there is uncrowded surf.

Maybe Nate Silver is doing some temp work on the ENSO desk to get over the Trump debacle?
