ah, don't get me wrong 2mm is perfect for up here with whatever combo you go for ... it's finding a 2mm wettie with durability which is the challenge.

i can go and get a 2mm wettie for 300 odd clams right now. or buy a 3/2 steamer for not much more.

3/2 steamer is overkill, but it'd last me 4 or 5 winters with how i take care of them compared to 1.5 seasons i've had out my last two 2mm suits (oneil & bong).

by the way ... chest zips, FOR THE WIN!! best invention ever,

discuss.

So I tried on a large 2mm TripleX yesterday and was too small and the XXL too big - they didn't have an XL - $180 seems like a bargain and I reckon it would last two seasons - nice and stretchy but after that fail I might just harden the fcuk up and tough it out in my SS springy.

they all seem like they're gonna last forever when they're new. problem is the thin, stretchy material just doesn't hold the stitching for a long time.

i think it's a physics issue.

I'm on the third season of an Oneill Gooru 2mm long sleeve springy. But it's very tired now.

Sydney is about to be bigger than four foot. It's causing me to wig out.

just for that.

my tomato vine is going full scale off the hook ever since i attached it to some lattice work i found in a mate's shed.

to think 3 months ago i was going to upend it and throw it out. now we got little bell tomatoes for days. gonna make a spaghetti sauce from scratch at some point with some organic extra virgin olive oil another friend makes himself and gave me a tester of.

i bozzed a mates e4 rip curl chest zip the other day. comfortable and stretchy etc but I was getting flushed in the front. I thought that was the supposed advantage - no flushing?

stick to my back zip for now.

Chest zip wetsuits are the ultimate example of marketing hype over substance.

Yep I got one of those too. Bargain. Also picked up a 2mm LS Oneill steamer there for $170 a few weeks back.

At $170 I couldn't give a flying fcuk if I only get one year out of it.

my 5mm steamer (c-skins) in tassie was a back zip, and it was so stiff and clunky compared to chest zips. it leaked water all down the back zip after about 5 or so surfs too. and i'm a raging anal freak with wetsuit care. always rinse in a post surf shower, hang them on a hanger in the shade etc ...

i'm not sure the pure physics of a wetsuit and duckdiving allows any suit not to flush to some degree? do they say chest zips are immune to flushing? that's pure market bs speak/ gibberish if so ...

imo, chest zips own the whole department of wetsuit flexibility.
