There is bugger all wind contamination in the Byron spectrum at the moment. Tsig is nearly the same as Tpeak.

damn. to surf a razor sharp sand point barrel like that again. it's all easy-streets for you peeps up north when it's "on".

where i'll be heading for the before-work dawn raid wednesday & thursday's gonna be more like this. raw meat burgers with the lot. no perfect kirra, but still a buzz though.

Get any pits braithy? It was dead low when I first jumped off the back at snapper, put a few hours in. Kirra looked like it was really firing up on the drive past late arvo

when was low tide, about 1pm? I got there a bit before 11. Started out pretty fun, but went dredging brown and pretty much unmakeably fast a little over an hour after i got there. I woulda like a bigger board than the 5'11" x 19 1/2 I was on ... something a little longer and made for down the line (ie not as wide).

so the bottom of the tide is no beuno for there, needs more water. I can only imagine what the incoming tide late this arvy was doing to it. how crowded was it this arvy? now that word's out she's firing (my insta and facebook have gone full retard with pics from this morning) i dread to see what tomorra's like.

Weds might be the day of days there if there's not too much south in the swell?

Didn't look super crowded, but i'm used to superbank crowds.

Probably sweepy as hell there though. Kirra is really difficult to get into when its sweepy, gotta pick one off early and just go and hope it doesn't shut down.

The main pack of plebs was on little Marley through rainbow. Hordes of barbarians.

The money spot was hugging the top of the point and locking down a medium set wave. Like taking candy from a baby when you risk life and limb rocking off the back.

yeah the sweep was horrible and just got worse as the tide dropped. they weren't too bad getting into as long as you didn't take a square one... and there were proper barrels too. not just finding corners to pull into and hoping they don't close out straight away. the worst part was the skis out there. a few photographers are ok, they just hover around shooting snaps, but the hueys picking up pro cnuts and riding them back around you up the point when it's 4 foot. that's fcuked up.

still, even though it's breaking heaps further out (than it used to) and you still can't see any sign of little groyne, it's more and more like the old kirra out there.

i'd expect tomorra to be a genuine circus out there.

it's heaps smaller today. 3-4 foot, but long lines shutting down high tide beachies... and the wind is a howling.

if yesterday was a 9, today is a 6.5

Just saw the cam for Snapper. And I thought my local was crowded on a weekend!

I surfed with a half dozen yesterday and about the same today.

interesting watching the energy density on the spectral buoy reading clock slightly S of E.....that made all the difference in spot selection and relative size differentials.
