Re: winter fourteen
looks like the models have coalesced on the southern scenario.
I love the look of it.

Re: winter fourteen
both access G and GFS have some sort of low/trough combo deepening on the leading edge of a strong high drifting through the eastern bight into the Tasman this weekend. Then the low coalescing somewhere off the west coast of NZ.
I see a week of Point surf here on that scenario.

Fair enough. GFS had the fetch kindly cut in half by the sheep shagging isle, but enough was squeezing through Cook Strait to send something up our way.
Winds suck mind you......pointing to every SE Qlder heading to your neck of the woods Steve!!!
Also, my intepretation of the charts at present is that EC seems to be the leader with the others following shortly thereafter.
EDT: Just looked at latest EC charts. NZ is a CNT!!!!

Re: winter fourteen
admittedly, better south of the border, but a lingering complex low pressure near New Zealand with a following strong Tasman low. Days of OK to great Point surf and with the current inshore bathymetry, fun as a hatfull of monkeys arseholes. Whats not to get excited about?

Still stuck in Brisneyland for another couple of weeks ... working every day ... 12-14 hour shifts. Any chance you can spare a few of those monkeys arseholes ? Or at least save a couple for me ?steve shearer wrote: fun as a hatfull of monkeys arseholes

Re: winter fourteen
we got a three out of ten for all day improving OH Pointsurf with cross-offshore winds. Winds actually have switched straight W in the last hour.
Meanwhile the Goldy with way less size got a five.
cuckoo clock cray cray on the Swellnet surf report.

Not sure why you care, if it is to your advantage, though I am enjoying the exchange vicariously.

professional pride.
anyway, it's just a little whinge in this dusty little nook of the internet.
I just find it amusing how consistently and spectacularly wrong they can be in terms of the actual reporting.
The forecasting is close to spot on.

Re: winter fourteen
down here the ocean is quite disturbed. Surface broken and swell/s moving unevenly. How it often is before a solid swell from those NZ lows.
