winna. how's it lookin?

What surfer doesn't care about the weather? Who hasn't predicted the arrival of a new swell? Do all of it here!

Latest 12z run of GFS has something back on the cards in the Tasman around mid-late next week, and in fact some OK winds on her SW flank, hence SE Qld might see something from this girl late next week/weekend.

Let's see what the 12z EC run has to offer this morning??

QLD won't get any waves this weekend. It's gonna be so flat. i can guarantee it will suck.

Early-mid next week looks flat as up here as well. Winter does well and truly suck in SE Qld.

Well you know, all I can say as of right now is fcuk the North Island.

It has been torturing us all year but right now it has sunk to its foullest. lowest level yet.

Fuck - I'm down the coast at a nice south swell magnet next week and it's supposed to be flat. Typical.
Theres been a few good days this winter but seems like more flat days than usual. At least this winna has been better than last bloody summer was. :?

Mid Winter Report Card.

Gold Coast A+ (mostly due to spectacularly shallow sandbars on the Points and small/medium but clean swells from the Eastern quadrant.)

North Coast A- As above but not quite to the same degree.

Sunny Coast C

Sydney C- ....maybe???? NC, Coops...seems like nothing of any real note.

Sydney call seems fair Steve. There has been nothing spectacular.

On the other hand, my recollection of recent years has included a period of nothing that has lasted for weeks on end, whereas this witner there seems to have been at least a wave to be had on most days.

So poor for the big wave riders, but there has been something there for us kooks on most days.

But it has been a bloody cold and wet winter by Sydney standards. I wonder if August will see a run of bigger south swells? Seems like the seasons are a bit out of joint so maybe.

i'd agree with oldman. it's been a decent winter for the average surfer, not great for the charger.

seems this winter's had more days with favourable winds too.

i haven't been out as much recently, but it seems like the banks have been fairly good for the medium swells, but pretty ordinary for the smaller waves, even after the big swells.

seems like the sand knows something we don't, maybe it's sitting there waiting for a big late-winter onslaught?

I always remembered August being mostly onshore... On the east coast anyway. Yeah, Im giving the winter a D. There might have been some days around head height but no real winter pulse. Getting frustrated surfing here. I cant wait around forever for waves.

I'm with coops, it's been a playful winter but amazingly short of significant swell events, I'm glad so many people have caught 3-4' waves but a good Sydney winter has a lot more 6-8 plus energy, so d plus from me

Yep. August is Brisbane Exhibition time and traditionally strong, gusty westerlies and souwesterlies for at least half the month.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Yep. I always like august cause the offshore blows all day, it's cold but you can get a uncrowded clean surf after work :D
