I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

So what are you seeing DonW. Is it the change of the season, as Steve Shearer was alluding to in another thread, or are you seeing something in the charts that is getting you interested?

I see a changing of the guard, Oldman. I see SE Qld's prime swell window starting to show some life.....it's been a while, and we're sick and tired of you southern folk getting all the S'ly swell action whilst we get diddly.

So when I see some tropical developments and a semi-stationary high pressure system over NZ latitudes, particularly this early in our cyclone season and given all the who-ha about El Nino, I start to get some warming and excitement.

Don't get me wrong. We aint gonna see anything huge from this system, but as long as swell has that magic letter "E" in it, I'm happy, cause it means winter and spring are over and summer and autumn are here/coming!!!! :D :D

You can feck these N'ly winds off too!!! Makes our tropical water too fecking cold

Haven't been checking the forecasts as much lately, due to the likelihood of nothing much happening, but have noticed the long fetch easterly stream that's been pushing into qld for ages now. As you imply, the high over NZ creates that window where you can imagine a system strengthening to form a lovely little onion somewhere in the Coral Sea.

Hope it works out for you. My recollection is that the early part of the season tends to only produce the cyclones over the WA side, while Coral Sea seems to happen more late in the season, (Feb/March).

December rarely seems to produce a cyclone on the east coast.

Is that right or is that just one of those tricks of memory?

Thanks all, checked the links, may have to bookmark Steve Shearer's prognostications for future reference.
