Billabong Pipeline Masters
Ummmm, anyone checked out the long range EC and GFS charts for the North Pacific for early December? Bugger me if that puppy comes to fruition then look out Hawaii!!!
May be just a day or two early for the Pipeline Masters though based on current model forecasts and noting Hawaii is a day behind??

way way to much sand over that reef right now, and unless a swell from a different direction comes through of a fairly large size, you could be looking at the close-out masters..Either way the end should be exciting, and in those conditions anybody could win accept for steadman of course.

Will a 4.5m @ 15 sec NW groundswell move the sand away? Cause that's what's on offer over there as we speak (Wed their time)!!!boardscape avalon wrote:way way to much sand over that reef right now, and unless a swell from a different direction comes through of a fairly large size, you could be looking at the close-out masters

Re: Billabong Pipeline Masters
strong trades and 10-12ft+ surf for Sunset on Sat.
Triplecrown webcast has been first class.
Jetstream looks like staying favourable into early/mid Dec.
Hope you've got a few spare pencils NC.

I couldn't agree more Nick, hence why I started the thread. Although me still thinks it's gonna peak a day or so early (before the 8th Dec Hawaii time).Nick Carroll wrote:as good a chart as you'll ever see for Hawaii

It's storm city in the North Pacific over the come week++!!!!
Really just down to local tradewinds and sand/reef formations now?? First big storm (as suspected) looks to peak a little too early for the comp....but hows the beast behind it!!!

Re: Billabong Pipeline Masters
That's what I meant, kinda... when those ones (in the synoptic above) kick, you'll usually see two more behind it, often bending slightly more west, and all far enough offshore not to affect local winds.
So Dec 9/10/11, then Dec 13/14/15.
Spare pencils indeed. I dunno if I'll have any boards left.

Re: Billabong Pipeline Masters
The stationary nature of that bomb storm in the North Pacific this weekend and into early next week is insane.
Seriously though Nick....will there be any place in Hawaii surfable (contestable)under that swell due to hit early-mid next week? Doesn't really matter too much as the duration of that swell event should ensure some damn good waves on the back of the swell peak.

Don your making it out to be something insanely big. Where would either of you two suggest heading to to watch it? I fly in on the weekend but honestly havn't really looked into the forecasts / surf spots over there apart from a little peak at surf atlas.
