How big!?

What surfer doesn't care about the weather? Who hasn't predicted the arrival of a new swell? Do all of it here!

How big!?

Post by Butts » Fri Feb 27, 2009 8:16 pm

Okay, we've noticed the L down south that is forming. Looks like it will produce some "VERY" decent swell for us.

But.................

Checking on some "prominent" spots closer to the source, and I was blown away with one of them.

The models are calling 10.3m WSW (yes metres) @ 15 seconds????
Winds are reasonable but NOT ideal.

So for those in the know, how farkin big is that going to equate to &.....
would there be ANYWHERE that could hold/handle that size :?
All these drawings about dinosaurs… Why can’t we have photos?

Next week is looking good down here.

10 ft waves on the open beaches, 8 ft at Flinders and 6 ft in Westernport by mid week.

And I'll be at work :( FARK!!!!

Very very big! Have a look at the beast and besides the large and broad SW fetch that will be aimed at the SE of the Continent, look at the stronger and fairly sustained SSW fetch aiming straight up into those little nooks and crannies that will be sheltered from the winds. There's one place that I would be heading to if I had no prior commitment and it's gonna be smokin!

At this stage the bureau is saying it will lose intensity before it gets east of Tasmania, so it is possible it won't be that big.

Don was calling for possible 10' plus for next Fridayish, while noting that it was at the limits of their predictive powers.

We'll have something to look at for the next week at work as it moves east.
