Jumping on this bandwagon - we are heading to the Coromandel area over XMAS (Whangamata).
Will a springy suffice?
No you'll need a 3/2 steamer. Maybe in Feb you'll get a few days when you could wear a spring suit or board shorts and a vest.

Re: The Tulla Tub

So in Autumn/Winter when it’s a predominantly west or north-westerly wind, it’ll be onshore. Interesting choice. I guess they want it offshore in the summer months. I don't know that wind direction is that important. I've seen it in 25 kt southwest - lower end was chopped up and 15 kt west the whol...

Re: The Tulla Tub

Checked the tub again this afternoon. It was running. There was a guy on the left and a guy on the right. The wind was 16 knot westerly - pretty much straight onshore for the tub - but it looked clean. I saw the guy on the right get one - looked about 2 1/2 feet - the guy did three decent hacks and ...

The contracts for drum lines and net operators require them to be cleared every 48 hours at least so it's not all that likely sharks see their captured friends.
The smell of death lingers. Sharks enter those locations into their shark sat navs and avoid them.

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

I wonder of the netting and baiting work the same way. That is the sharks encounter another shark netted or having taken a bait, then think fcuk that, I'm going somewhere else where I'm the undisputed top of the food chain. I reckon that's how they work. That's why smart drum lines don't work. I re...

Thanks mate, local friend tells me I can drive to New Plymouth area and that plenty of spots can be offshore on the SW wind, which makes sense when you look at the map. Apparently it is not a long drive, under an hour.

cheers
JON
I guess but not as exciting as Albatross

With Jetstar.
You can check in luggage inc. boards with virgin for free.
Sweet. Though finding a cab that'll fit them is a hassle. Urbn surf will probably have an on demand shuttle going in the warmer months.

Hi Pinhead, thanks very much for your feedback, performance 4/3 is the go, cheers
Wave rich area but the winds will be a problem mostly SW. Albatross point is the only place thats offshore but they have snipers on the hills.

Re: The Tulla Tub

Were there many parking spots? Asking for a humoon People will come just for the parking. The Urbn surf car park is huge - also its on the edge of an airport/industrial zone with plenty of street parking to absorb overflow. So you could drive down from Sydney for a morning surf if you liked driving...

How did you get in to see it or can you see the waves from the road?
You can see it from the road. There are some big rocks out front I could stand on to get a pretty good view.

Re: The Tulla Tub

So there would be enough waves for someone to catch 40 waves in 60 minutes...or would they have to share with other surfers? Its like a conveyor belt of waves getting pumped out at an unnatural rate. By the time you finish your ride and paddled back to the take off point i'd say 15 waves would have...

The Tulla Tub

Just went up the road to check the Urbn surf Melbourne Surf pool. Quick report. First thing I noticed pulling up outside was the noise They had it running and it sounds like the sea. Whats not like the sea is the relentlessness of it - its like an endless set. At the rate it was running today, I'm n...
