Re: are surftech boards any good??

Maybe I'm deluded, but there's a "pop" in coming off turns (particularly bottom) the feel of traditional construction has. JD (apologies) shapes have that. Some older boards I've had end up losing it despite it's otherwise condition. "Pop" is good

Re: are surftech boards any good??

Another couple of things about JD and the I'll stfu; He told me if the laminate is punctured, get it out of the water and here asap. Probably wouldn't have charged. Great guy

The also have a vent to accomodate heat expansion/contraction. I imagine it's a real problem for EPS cores without them

Re: are surftech boards any good??

Josh's are EPS. Lighter than PU, but way stronger. Mine is excellent for heaving beachies. Wide point slightly forward, narrow round pin. Did a Sth coast NSW trip with it as my only board. Chucking some small fins in it was okay for smaller days too. Don't surf it much these days, but barely a mark ...

Re: are surftech boards any good??

I still have a JD. Epoxy, but timber railed. It's a small step up (6'2"), but goes well from 4'. Has twang

Only other poxy board I've ridden was one of Hayden's on loan at Lord Howe. Not a Hypto, but it was fcuked for paddling in. Seemed to just want to cork at the top. JD's nothing like that

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Jimmy's post marries perfectly with the Israelis I've met. Orthodox crew could not wait to disengage. Religion and the Palestinian situation hadn't even been broached. I hope this isn't seeming stereotypic as it's simply an observation based on a very small sample size

Go Cranked!

I met Greg Norman at a golf course once.
So did I, but it's construction was yet to commence. We were roofing the first home in the estate. He brought beers around on a Friday arvo, talked shit for awhile. Seemed like an okay bloke

Yes, it was pretty good. I wondered if he was referring to Cranked when talking about hanging out with friends and not needing a great deal of wealth

Re: Sending a board overseas

Cheers Groots. Similar possibilities my way as a teen/young adult. Drug addiction was rife and I'd already been to way too many funerals by 25 due to drug addicted ODs. Rented in Rosebud, Safety Beach and Red Hill before moving back to Seaford where I bought a house. Then at 32, Warrnambool, Port Ca...

Re: Sending a board overseas

Same, but there are those who claim Frankstone is part of the MP. And who the fcuk am I to disparage as I grew up in Seaford which is North of old Frangertown. Went to school for 3 years at Monterey Tech in the Pines housing commission estate. Grooter's mum taught there, but I think not in my time. ...

Re: Sending a board overseas

Groots, I knew the Franko connection, but somehow thought you were in/around the nicer environs of Merricks, Balnarring, Shoreham. No?
