Re: channels
MMM, the comments I heard were a bit negative, sling enough mud about someone and some of it will stick, which is a shame. On reflection it does seem that the gravy train did run out because my friend did mentioned the price of his boards going up, everyone wants something for nothing But hey, grace...

Re: channels
Hey DD. If u wanna talk to someone up here who knows about 6 channels, try and chase up John Mills. I think he may do some shaping through Beach Beat. Stump at Black Widow and Mick Grace, both know how to shape them well too. All 3 of these guys are good surfers who were in the thick of it during t...

[quote="Surfin Turf"]I saw in the board size thread that you are riding a 21" wide fish, and you say here that you sometimes struggle believing that it may be flexibility or skill ... sure getting old has it's effects but if you are capable of doing roundhouse cutbacks and floaters etc and wanting t...

Re: Hayters
fought with my lawn and the drought for 2 years when lived in the central west, never had enough money to fight it with the good stuff, so dug up compost soil and mixed into the dry patches of land, plenty of watering when allowed due to drought and planted runners where I could, dispersed it with s...

for those over 35
The reason ive started this topic is that ive found that age (42) has caught up to me a little bit with my surfing, suppose its only natural, not as loose as before or as fast. My surfing style has definately changed from wanting to always smash a wave and try to dominate it, to now looking for plac...

Re: What board size are you?
Im 42, weigh about 13 stone, I think thats 84 kg, dont really know or care, height 6 foot. surfing 28 years with a break of 2 and a half years when I lived inland. Sometimes I surf like I got a broom stick stuck up my arse due to a major back operation when I was 24, cracked my L3, L4, L5 disks and ...

Re: channels
belly channels, had one of them back in the eighties, also tried with the one wide channel fading into the fins, I had this on a twinnie with a small trailer, worked a treat, loved it and wish I still had that board, if we all think back on some of the boards we owned Im sure we would all shed a tea...

Re: Nat Young Interview
all I can say is that this has been one of the funniest reads I have had on this forum, Nat certainly divides peoples thoughts. I dont think much of the guy but who cares. What I want to know is what are the questions you will be asking. He is a interesting part of our surfing history wether you lik...

Re: channels
A good guy to talk to about channels is the guy who started them, Phil Myers from Ballina. He is still shaping some great boards under his own name. He was using the Lennox Underground brand for some time. Not sure if that is still in operation though. started them ? I have never heard of Phil gett...

Re: No wave surfs
At 42, and one serious back operation, I am slowly starting to come to grips with the fact that I am not 18 to 24 anymore. I no longer will take off on semi dry reef just because no one else is surfing it, cant afford new boards when I snap one. I will think twice about going out unless absolutely p...

Well just as a vague pt of order ... seems to me t...

Re: tell me what good surfing is
what is great surfing? Mate, I get down to the beach at 5.00, still dark, stoked to be there and paddle out first, someone else paddles out, you can see their stoke in the eyes, you take off on a wave and they hoot, they take off, draw nice smooth lines, and a few decent hacks, then paddle back out ...
