Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

Not just whales but Australian salmon. Massive increases since large scale commercial fishing for them stopped. Used to be rare for them to be found north of Sydney. They now move up to the Queensland border and beyond. And they are a major food source for juvenile and teenaged great whites before ...

Re: Jeffreys Bay Pro 2015

I'm no shark expert, but I do know something of genetics - particularly population genetics. The abattoir was not there for nearly long enough to imbed itself into shark genes. End of story Exactly, but enough time to pass down foraging behaviour patterns from one generation to the next Good point ...

Re: Ask Carroll

OK. Lets get super duper technical. The great bulk of the world has gone metric. Why are surfboards still measured in feet? Apart from the silly sounding guy saying "I got a new 1950.7mm" today. Or is it that simple in that, we are just so used to it. And then why, given all dims. are in inches, we...

Statistically one is more likely to get hit by lightning and there are instances of double-strikes.

Re: Ask Carroll

As I understand it, they're trying to look like large scary fish. I think that's one aspect of it, natures "I'm toxic" colour scheme. What I read somewhere about the stripey bottom board design with the "disc" in the centre, is that it's supposed to break up the image of the board to look like some...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Balangan is my favourite break on the Bukit. The road leading down to the warungs is more like a firetrail than an actual road. Wasn't there a fire at the warungs a few months back? Yeah still a bit of a gem. I was there (with cranked) not long after the fires. A few places burnt, mostly directly a...

Wish I was there I'd just like to say MM, that I do appreciate you, and all the other working stiffs, keeping Australia running while I'm away. Thanks mate, knowing that will make driving to work monday just that little bit easier. :-D-: Some cranking waves here too just quietly, been up to my bloc...

Re: Knee damage

 Gary knows. I'm still checking the forecasts. Nothing compelling for a week. I actually rode to the cheaper train station and back today, about 2km each way. It was much easier than walking is. Walking it twinges each step and I have to take stairs one at a time keeping that leg straight. Sta...
