Re: Renaming surf breaks
In honour of Michel Houllebecq (whos not at all nihilistic IMO; he's comic. Is there anything funnier than the meaningless existence of his cube monkey in Whatever?.....weariness? could there be anything more representative of our western culture than this??) I find him a tremendous tonic. Anyhow, ...

Renaming surf breaks
I've often wondered (and that's a lie in itself) if a wave was a writer, what writer would it be? What do you reckon? Would Shipsterns be Bukowski? For example, I'd rename Teahupo'o, Bernhards after Thomas Bernhard who was obsessed with death, or maybe JJs (James Joyce) because it sure as sh!t looks...

Re: the boy in bali on pot charges
Sushi rolls, Macdonalds, hot stone massages, moccachino’s, Caesar salad pizza’s and dog whisperers ect ect are all contributing to the demise of a once innocent and beautiful island. The Balinese are going mad.....and i don't blame em. You know, KK, it's a bit like sitting in the line-up and thinki...

Re: the boy in bali on pot charges
Indeed, Fong, but people make mistakes, especially kids. And this has been exacerbated by rumours which have been spread by highly irresponsible adults who should know better. But, of course, that's the idealist in me. Were those highly irresponsible adults his parents? Whichever media organisation...

Re: the boy in bali on pot charges
At this stage, we don't know for certain how the whole payment-for-story thing played out. What concerns me is that so many Australians, accepting the alleged $300k deal as truth set in stone, are taking the attitude of, "well, now it serves them right if the kid does goes to jail!" Jeez, we can be ...

Re: Forget K11 Roy Stuart is voted number one !
Roy, it's true that you have never stated that there is only one kind of board to ride. However, the fact that you arrogantly deride riders of other boards implies that you hold that belief. I just read the interview you did with the Daily Stoke. What I find disingenuous on your part is your failure...

Re: Boardies guide
Go to Sugarmill Surf Shop on Pittwater Rd on Saturday and ask for Nick.
Nick's about 16 and a good guy. He's the son of a good mate of mine. Tell him AJ sent you. Won't get you any $$$ off, but it's always good to have a more personal connection.

Re: Boardies guide
I have scored an excellent couple of pairs at Vinnies last year which should keep me going with the various stages of semi worn out ones I allready have. A bit like t shirts really. The missus can't seem to understand the natural progression from new to general down the beach, gardening and yard wo...

Re: Clubbies who surf: a conflict of interest?
Response from Randwick Council: ; our staff do need to escalate to a more aggressive approach for the benefit of all. awesome Yeah, I reckon that's gold. I politely suggested that, instead of giving them the thumbs up to get aggro, they'd be better giving these guys some basic skills in dealing wit...

And well he might be, Steve, but as a government employee, he's obliged to table the response and to take some form of action. I'd rather write an email that may or may not bring a result than do nothing.
