Re: twin fins....the board time forgot

Rasta, love him or hate him, surfs exceptionally well on his Akila Aipa and Fornula Energy twins.

My mate has a 6' Spider Pottz replica that he loves. Surfs it in pretty much any conditions.

Re: Booties

After much trial and error, it's O'Neill Mutant 6/5/4s for me for the winter here in the UK; warm, comfy and good board feel. Also, they come off quickly - nothing worse than pissin about with straps with numb fingers with hail or sleet hitting the back of your head. In fact, they are so good that I...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

I get the feeling Geoff tries to veer away from what he may see as 'fads' and maybe he feels quads need a more robust development... I am totally second guessing here. However, it's a shame he seems to be dismissing the enthusiastic experimentation of some Nugget owners. A bit of an open dialogue co...

Re: Single fin shortboards

There's a clip or two of Herro on the McCoy site.

Think he pops a little frontside air on a Starfinned single in one clip, but other than that, I've not seen anything much else apart from Cheyne....

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

You get used to surfing in a suit for sure...

I have the opposite problem - first surf in boardies after a stint in suits and I surf like a drunk baby giraffe

Re: Bong in big trouble

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm just wondering - if Billabong goes down, is it just the brand or the whole group (Element, Xcel etc..) ??

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

They're super warm, but you gotta be careful with them... No stamping them off on a gravel car park!

Double check the sizes, too - I bought a large and it was too small for me by some considerable degree (usually wear large West's and O'Neills and MT in Ripcurl)

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Still trying to get my head around the fact that it's cheaper for you guys to buy from KOWS than to buy from shops in Oz....

I know it's probably not free shipping with these guys, but the suits are cheap and made from Yamamoto rubber (super warm):

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

I wonder how long it will be before people start making their own wetsuits at home, you know, as craft projects, the way they make surfboards. It's prolly too hard to get the neoprene. When I was a kid, there was a local wettie maker who sold DIY kits. I think it's a pretty good idea in some ways, ...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Get a towel, lay suit on top, roll up then walk up down the whole lot a couple times.. That works ok for a quick dry :) On a different subject - any of you guys ever ordered a custom suit? If I ever have the cash, I will always consider this option. They just seem to work well and last longer as the...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Just put it on wet, you pussy. You'll still be 155% warmer than me. I've occasionally wrapped my suit, booties, hood etc up in an old sheet and blasted them in the drier... ...but only to defrost it in the depths of winter when they have frozen stiff overnight (not kidding  ) The other trick (...

Just managed to pick up a brand new, old stock West Nitro plus 3/2.

Faark, they are good suits... Such shame they are no longer.

Re: 'Transistional era' midlength Vee Bottoms

Hey Cuttle, Yes, I remember seeing that now. Chops is the man who was right there amongst it 1st time around eh? It's a nice looking board for sure... Weirdly, even though 'alternative' designs are fairly prevalent in the UK, this kind if thing is fairly uncommon for some reason. Nice to know it let...

'Transistional era' midlength Vee Bottoms

A design that seemed to both a revelation and subsequently quite limiting in the late 60s - the 'Hot Generation' style 7-8' Vee bottom. It seems to have be revisited more recently by a few guys; Paul Hutchinson in Oz, Ryan Lovelace and Brian Hilbers in the States and I'm wondering if these new versi...
