They don't (by your definition). If you click on foamy's link he was (surprisingly) right.steve shearer wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 3:45 pmSo if Surfline itself ... uses the commonly used method, can we at least accept it"s the commonly used method?

Avalanche airbag rucksack. A tool in the arsenal that you hope you never use in anger, like a seatbelt.

Re: General snow stuff
Review of my Alpride SuperCap33 E2 (ostensibly for 'boo since no-one else will be interested). This is the ideal pack for me. I sailed through many bag checks without a single question asked. That alone is (to me) with the price of admission. I tested it 3 times while I was away. I recharged it each...

Re: General snow stuff
One day you should read Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain by Bruce Tremper and invest in a beacon, probe and shovel as a minimum.

Re: General snow stuff
It's been unseasonably warm while we're here. Double digits warm some days, like today. And yet, Europe being Europe there is fun to be had. In the morning I'm skiing firn snow with the family. And when they get tired and give up there are some aspects right under everyone's noses that are north fac...

There's been a rush of new accounts that I've approved lately. Like more than 20 all of a sudden. My trigger finger is ready.

Re: General snow stuff
Hero snow today. It was warm (raining in village) and then cooled overnight while dumping a decent amount. Up high there's a thick layer of cream with no hitting through to the crust underneath. You can lay out big GS turns with no fear. I had a whole bowl mostly to myself with an entry that deterre...

Re: General snow stuff
Boa are great for bike shoes.
I spend as much time off piste as I can. Even if the snow sucks I vastly prefer it. If I'm on a run I pretty much don't turn and just try to get from A to B as fast as possible. My equipment reflects that.
Not that I'm recommending a dedicated powder board, just saying.

Re: General snow stuff
5 hours of boot to shin deep today. Good fun but the body will tell the story tomorrow. It's hard to go from zero to flat out. Back already sore.
