Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
Best twin fin I’d ever owned was shaped by Nigel Beckham. Pretty sure he’s retired from shaping now. Anyone here used twin fins in bigger conditions, say double overhead or bigger? I’ve owned a few over the years and found them to best suited to smaller softer waves, as they lack the control and sta...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
SJS (Scott James) on the tweed coast ex-NZ makes some nice looking twins.
I do wonder though why he tends to use those down rails a lot.

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
Yeah that’s my hesitation re: channel twins. I’d be mostly surfing it in beach breaks Not exactly the same but check out Gary Mcneil Torus twin, they go pretty sick Hmm. Looks nice. But not so sure about keel fins for beach breaks. 🤔 Dont put keels in it, use uprights... swap them for keels on poin...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
Anyone using a twin fin (incl tail channels) as a go-to shortboard? I like twinnies, but mostly only in smaller softer conditions. Though it’s been a while. Interested to revisit, keen to understand if the tail channels actually do much in terms of extra stability and hold? If not, there’s always th...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Hatchy, I've surfed it a few dozen times ages ago, never when it was big as I usually went there when Cronllua was small or to avoid crowds. A nice boil on the Northen end and a mellower break south. Are the shacks still there? No shacks at either Marley beach I’m aware of. And yes, smaller conditi...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Anyone surfed either little or big Marley beach in the royal national park before? It’s around a 50 min walk north or Wattamolla. I’ve checked it on foot three times now, and curious to hear from anyone that’s surfed it. Apparently it’s deemed by SLSA as one of the most dangerous unpatrolled beaches...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Geoff McCoy and Grant Miller seem like the epitome of the egocentric shapers. Geoff probably takes the cake, deluded, jaded, grumpy, etc. equally both these shapers have odd fan bases that lap up their kool aid.
