Re: Where did you surf today ?

feeling pretty beat-up today after 10 straight days of surfing. those foam rollers are gods gift though for reducing DOMS......Cranked you onto it? I haven't been. I don't think its possible to suffer from surf muscle over-use in Perth, and I thought them a bit big to bother taking to Indo (where I...

Re: Lombok in solid swell ?

Dons Dons is good when its bigger. I surfed it once by myself once for a few hours in early March at head and a half to double.

That was quite a few years ago, I guess it would be a shitfight now even in March

bali_surf_head posted a pic of giant Bango-bango the other day on instagram

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Braithy I've got a board a bit like that, 6'4" though. Classic outline, modernish bottom contours (which you can't see in these pics) But it's got cork on it, so you'd have to get past the aesthetics. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Z8kh-CL3tY0/UHvzTwelYaI/AAAAAAAAAHg/12dgt5d74n4/s800/outline.jp...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I was thinking of going down to Margaret River but here's the shark sightings for the last 24 hours http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s125/DavidTravis/Temp/2017-03-05%2007_24_55-Sharksmart%20-%20Shark%20Activity.png Fcuk that. So I bought a ticket to Bali instead, they don't have sharks there, lea...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

The quad I've ridden most is a Stretch 6'10 F4 (dedicated quad) with Stretch's own quad set. Fin size is approx M5 front and M3 back, but with the fin height a little lower and base a little broader than the m5/m3 fins. Front fins have a deep concave. Trailing edge of rear fins is set at 11.5" from ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Yes, the thruster is the standard to which other boards are compared. I was just thinking of how to summarise what to expect out of bonzer. And no point getting one unless you have occasional access to walling, quick, semi-hollow to hollow waves in the waist to head high range. A bit silly choosing...

Re: Bucket List

I'm bummed that Jim Banks lent his support because Claude duchessed him with access. As far a I know that was a long time ago. And also I think the "exclusive" used to be pretty patchy, probably because Claude wasn't there a lot of the time. Its grown to be such an issue though that even if by some...

Re: Bucket List

Fcuck Claude and Nihiwatu. Let's hope one day locals rise up like Fiji and restore open access. I hate this privatization of waves by whiteys with colonial hangovers more than anything Yeah, he's a total wanker. He's probably running on less than 10% occupancy and paying his staff the usual $5/day,...

Re: Bucket List

Anyone in here (if you had the disposable coin to do so) going to do Occy's left? Or ethically opposed to staying there? The cheaper rooms are about $1800/night. They would do the plus service and tax of 20% and they would charge for everything. I couldn't see getting out of it for less than about ...

Re: Bucket List

If I was beyond wealthy I would lure Martin Daly out of retirement, have an Indies Trader replica constructed, make an offer to Shearer and Carroll to accompany me as surf guides, perhaps also to Marauding and Beany to provide comic relief, and we would tour the oceans of the world, stopping at our ...

Re: Bucket List

There's spots I've surfed that I'm almost scared to go back too, just for fear of seeing it desecrated. Mid 90's me and a mate sailed from Honolulu down through the Marshall Islands and into Micronesia. We visited this atoll in the Marshalls, hove to before dawn and at first light tacked through a ...

Re: Bucket List

I'm not so into the quick hit bucket list approach, I like to choose a location and spend several months surfing it every year for a number of years, then move on to the next location, usually somewhere in Indonesia.

West Sumbawa could be the next.
