Re: Which board do you hope to surf tomorrow?

2ndReef. have u surfed wedding cake? if so, what's it like? Nah, always wanted to surf there, and The Southy too, but it never happened while I was living in Eastern Suburbs and Inner West. It's a fickle old joint, what with the wind exposure and all, but it looks a blast on a big board. I've moved...

Re: Which board do you hope to surf tomorrow?

Yep, that's exactly what they are, Trev. From all reports Cowries was hard work; very hollow but the barrel was pinching and a few wash throughs to contend with. Not a place you want to get caught inside.

Re: Which board do you hope to surf tomorrow?

Surfed the outside boils till dark on Saturday and from first light on Sunday. Probably call it more regularly 8ft on the sets out there but without a doubt there were a few 10fters, and they were the ones to look out for and dodge. Every 20 mins a clean up would mow through and cause carnage. Not t...

Re: Which board do you hope to surf tomorrow?

windang island, barrack point (both sides) had some of the biggest waves i've ever seen yesterday - it was certainly not a swell oversight in the Illawarra. I've seen photos of wild 10-12ft waves (being ridden) at Coogee on Saturday arvo. While late Saturday and Sunday morning I was dodging 10ft se...

Re: Which board do you hope to surf tomorrow?

I just surfed a new 5'9" Maurice, it was 6' plus, no big deal another sensational forecast overcall. Was it still 6' in the afternoon, when both major forecasting sites predicted it to peak? Cos where I was blokes were riding 7'+ boards scraping into triple-overhead Sunset style waves. Connect it t...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

^ and moreover, how were headies rights? Headlands, strangely, wasn't that great today. You wouldn't have known it from the crowd but it didn't stack up against a few other reefs around here - Thommos being one of them. There was a fair crowd all morning but later this arvo it really thinned out. L...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Ah down here they said it was gonna come up a lot on Friday then back off overnight. Sure about that Nick? All week we (Swellnet) were forecasting a peak on Saturday arvo. From Craig's notes: "A much stronger and larger S'ly groundswell is expected late in the afternoon." He even gave a warning abo...

Re: Snapper riffing

Just had a surf at the Superbank - my lord the sand is patchy! Dunno if I've seen it worse since they began pumping. There's an aerial shot in the foyer of the hotel we're staying at, one of those Ted Grambeau or Sean Scott images of classic Snapper; blue ocean with a straight line of whitewater mar...

Re: Snapper riffing

Ha! At this stage I'm going up on Thursday and hanging for a few days, maybe just till Sunday - can't leave the family for too long at the moment.

I'll drop you a line when I'm there.

Re: Snapper riffing

Not being weird at all, Craig also mentioned D'bah in a completely unflaggable way. Both places were mentioned simply because organisers would consider running it there. Perhaps we shouldn't mention anything besides Snapper...? Inner and outer points is mentioned in our general forecasts because the...

Re: Snapper riffing

Craig at SN has flagged Kirra for the weekend.......I dunno, Kirra at 3ft looks to be too bits and pieces. Craig didn't flag Kirra, he mentioned it to show the grading in size, same as he would with any SE QLD swell forecast i.e inner points and outer points. Reckon they're gonna be struggling to f...

Re: Snapper riffing

Hey 'Boo,

I'm not convinced something sinister is at play just have a sneaking suspicion that it may be possible. It seems the hole at Snapper, when it does occur prior to the Quik Pro, fills awfully fast. At other times of year away from the contest period it seems to take longer.

Re: Snapper riffing

Stu from Swellnet interviewed the bloke in charge of the Tweed Bypass about a week ago. He was fairly cagey, an engineer and a bureaucrat, not a surfer. http://www.swellnet.com.au/news/3434-snapper-the-state-of-the-sand How'd you find that story, 'Boo? I whacked it in the deep, dark recesses of the...

Cheers 'Boo. We had twin boys which puts the tally at three boys under two. If you wanna buy shares in Andronicus coffee now would be a good time.

Re: Ipswich: Australia's newest international surf destinati

How can I become a member of this secret group ''The DESTINATI". Are they the people who shut down the Swellnet Surfing Reef Design forum, and have they been busy patenting all the ideas discussed there. I'm guessing that's a joke, but after all the paranoid rantings I've heard lately I'm not so su...

Re: Ipswitch: Australia's newest international surf destinat

After reading all the ideas that were put forward on Swellnets surfing reef design forums (which for some reason they have now shut down) Just a database issue, Marvin, it ain't shut down. Hopefully we'll have it fixed by the end of the week. As for wavepools, there's been some more news on that fr...
