Wands, this might sound geeky but I don't know those places (place?). I know the name of the place where I took the pic. You may be right but those are local names. Give me a hint.WANDERER wrote:racecourse? johnsons?

Re: where am i on aussie coast ?
I'd say volcanic, or Brisbane metamorphic. Pandanus palm is a bit of a giveaway. Looks like cyclonic swell on the Sunny Coast....outer edge of Noosa; Hells gates? Steve OK. Here's the thing. Your comment about the pandanus palm made me look more closely at the pic. My original shows the pandanus bu...

Re: where am i on aussie coast ?
It's generic Hawkesbury sandstone and generic east coast heathland (banksia) scrub. Thank you puurri. I look at a picture like that and think 'that describes just about every bit of coastline I know from Bega to, well somewhere north coast NSW." Not a distinguishing feature in it for me. I don't th...

Re: where am i on aussie coast ?
spookies-angas. Thanks Wanto, didn't know it had a name (probably didn't then) but that fits. We used to go out there on 9' + boards with no leg ropes - not when it was that big though. That morning (midweek) I surfed the point overhead and alone for nearly 2 hours. It was the third or fourth day o...

OK. YOu've all done very well, but no cigar. Although the Newcastle - Coffs option got close. Hint. This pic was taken the same day (1968) about 50 meters inland. Sorry about the quality. They are digital photos of slides. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll46/TrevG27/2008_1215Pics4May0055.jpg Thi...

Re: Travel camera - SE Asia
I have had a Fuji S5800 for the last year and can't fault it as a point and shoot. Pics are fine. There's a new model out now which is 10mp (instead of 8 ) around $300+
10 X optical zoom and 5 X digital zoom + 50X. You need a tripod at this zoom level though.

It's sort of under our City....Have you been through the Bare Island fort. Plenty of history there and some good stories as well. Like the cannon which went missing from the room the retired diggers wanted as a pool room. It was too big to get out but they removed it. Took a while to find it. They ...
