I tell you what polebean. I'll see if the crew can get a camera set up at Crescent Head for you. How's that? Then you can check Crescent Head every day of your life!!

Re: Just general surfing stuff

You are probably right. The modern surfer wants somewhere safe and cruisy, where you rarely have to duck dive.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I like Crescent. But I reckon the surfcam would rarely inspire anybody to take a long drive there for the waves.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Needless to say, it’s not normally that good. A slow, cruisey, longer board type wave. It can be quite hard to get waves with a crusty older crew of regulars. Popular with tradies.

Hey foamy, I hope your friends aren't still at Streaky, looks like a fatal attack at Granites
They have left Streaky Bay, mm. Thanks for your concern. They are still on the Eyre Peninsula. Some of their friends rocked up at that beach for a surf 10 minutes after the fatal attack. Sad business.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I’m sure Bruce Brown did gild the lily a lot but he could also only know what locals told him. But they reckon the sandbanks there have changed a lot from when the shore was primarily coastal dunes to now heavy coastal development.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I’m reminded of this Sunshine Beach clip from 7 years ago. And no, it isn’t regularly this good. Though I was out there a few years before this and it was similar. That was also a June swell. One of the chaps out there on my session reckoned it was about the best he’d surfed it in the 20 years he’d ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

About 30 years ago, a friend of mine and her 1 year old baby were on a boat in bad weather in the Lombok Strait. The boat started to sink. She knew she was in serious trouble when the Indonesian crew starting crying.

Speaking of which. My sister is currently here. Friends of theirs own this apartment. They’ve offered me a week there anytime I like. What’s the best time you reckon for best chance of a week of swell? Feb/March thereabouts?

“And when it’s time for leaving Mozambique
To say goodbye to sand and sea
You turn around to take a final peek
And you see why it’s so unique to be
Among the lovely people living free
Upon the beach of sunny Mozambique”

Well, that’s just what Bob Dylan reckoned.
