Re: Christmas holidays at the beach - in 50 years
In the mid-50's my old man and his mates used to machete their way into Boomerang Beach and camp at the north end for weeks at a time living of fish and rice. The Lakes Way was dirt and the only road off it was Lethbridge Street that ends at the north end of Lizzy. No houses. Nothing. 'Pacific Palms...

Re: CW+
Well, we don't rely solely on surf industry advertising. Is that what you mean...? Our advertising space is sold through an agency and, as you can see on the site, can entail any company/industry that's on their books. In the past we've copped grief for not running surf industry ads but there are al...

Re: CW+
Yeah, it makes sense Don, but like I said we're really not too sure what to expect. In a way it doesn't really matter because we feel Swellnet has differentiated itself from Coastalwatch. It's been a long time since we felt like we were in a race with them. These days we've got an increased emphasis...

Re: CW+
Yeah, we're keeping an eye on it Don, but we've got no idea what to expect. The whole pay-to-view concept is a bit of an experiment - same for Rupert Murdoch as it is for Coastalwatch. We've spent the past 12-18 months working on new features at Swellnet which we'll unveil in the near future. Just q...

Any chance of a surf before it leaves the Northern Beaches?Cpt.Caveman wrote:I have the traveler now. It looks like a fun little slab
I'll try to get 2-3 surfs on it this week and report back. Matt (a mate of mine) is going to have it for a couple of surfs after me. He lives in Maroubra.

Where do you live Topher? I'm at Manly but head down to Cronulla regularly. After I've ridden the board it'll be easy for me to drop it off down there.

Re: Whose Life is it anyway
Like Nick I felt conflicted when I read the book. Ultimately I enjoyed it though and thought it a great character study. One thing I can say, I felt I learnt more about MP - his internal machinations and what motivated him -from Malcolm's book than Sean's bio. Simply, the novelist was able to explo...

Re: A bit scared of this next swell
Cheers BA...'twas epic out there. I only got 4 or 5 but was the most enjoyable session I've had in ages. I flew solo for a while before Hayden Cox and one of his mates (James?) paddled out on serious equipment. Another fella joined us and the four of us had it too ourselves for a few hours. Ended up...

Re: A bit scared of this next swell
I know exactly where I'm going. The decision was thoroughly calculated and completely rational.
Dunno if I'll be able to say the same of the split-second, in-the-moment decisions that'll be required.
Fcuk, I'm nervous...ooh yeah.
