Oh and Hatchman, keep your snide little worn out comments to yourself. This is a good thread so far with some intelligent points/counter-points made. Not trying to be snide or worn out. Just calling it as I see it. I don't think that body boarding, personally, is as skillful as surfing. And I have ...

I do not belive so. There is another watercraft called a "Bodyboard" which requires stacks more skill so id probly say that bodyboarding would be the hardest. Stick riders just do turns and say stoke alot where as bodyboards get huge air, drop into some extremely dangerous pits.. Its obvious to whi...

How many recognised masters of the sport are there? Compare that with other recognised masters of other sports and that should give you an answer. The great thing about it is that it isn't expensive once you get over the inital outlay of a board and wetsuit, always throws something different at you ...

Well for anyone who cares...

Surf comp was at Rye. I ended up going to Gunna and it was pretty damn good mostly 4ft waves but I managed to nail a big 6ft bomb that came through.

Water quality is still sewerage standard though :(

Tooheys?? Bleeech, that's some pretty bad beer. Well better than XXXX anyway, at least NSW brewers can spell. Only Victorians know how to brew Australian beer properly, nothing beats a Carlton Draught on tap at th epub, VB or Melbourne anywhere else or a Crownie when you're in a celebratory mood. As...

East Coast is the go on Saturday (Vic)

Not much on offer in the morning, too small for Flinders, Westernport and the "Surf" Coast. Get ready to swim with the turds at Gunna.

Surf comp is scheduled for either there or Rye though so its probably best avoided, I may check out this 16th place instead.

I never knew what this crap was about till I read something about this Kobe guy in Mens Health.

Him and his brother sound like really nice guys.

Maybe the launch party will help him buy another Monaro.

Thank christ wankers like this only seem to get the popularity/notice/cred north of the Murray.

Re: old men shampooing privates at the beach??

No-one else has said it, so I will. Anyone thought that they may just be old ring lickers. Maybe they've just had a bit of bum action and are washing down. Maybe it's a signal to other bum pirates that they're ready for action. It is a public toilet after all. As for the dude showering with the doo...

There is an old bloke at the gym I go to that always has his shower with the door wide open so everyone in the change room can get a glimpse of his soaping up his wedding tackle after a work out.

A pretty sight it isn't.

I've seen Frankston beach throw up some waves before too.

Not many times though, be lucky to get a few days in a year, highest was probably around 3 foot and messy but surfable nonetheless.

Usually story with the bay though, has to been hurricane strength winds if it were to happen.

Just be happy with what you have, there is always someone worse off than you. You can spell, read and write and have access to a PC, you can afford a surfboard and have a good education and probably four bricked walls and a roof over your head not to mention access to free public health care and soc...

I knew of someone that lost the tip of a finger to a legrope. Apparently the guy fell of a wave. He was then trying to gather up his board by pulling it back to him using the leggie cord. A wave was approaching and he tried to keep hold of the board via the legrope but the cord somehow wrapped arou...

I honestly don't know. I don't even think when I am doing it to be honest, I don't ever feel like I am "on fire" one day and crap the next. I've never given it any thought as for me getting into any kind of zone is not relevant. Surfing is the one thing I can do in a hectic life where I don't have t...

Yep I'd say that is the one.

My friend has a house down there and it definitely has built up a lot in recent years just like everywhere else.

I'll check it it out over summer when the ocean breaks tend to calm down a little.

The 16th place (Vic)

Have any of you ever surfed a place known as the 16th on the East Coast Ocean beaches in Vic before? Ran into a mate on the weekend who lives down that way and recommended it as a pretty good place to have a surf. He told me where it was (which I won't elaborate on as it's not one of the major spots...
